I find myself going back to read the following review every so often. As well as being funny, it is sincere and thoughtful. They aren't pissing on a classic vindictively for clout.

For myself, I quite like the album but the reviewer, UltraBoris, does make some good points and gives some food for thought.

I'm on the first paragraph and I already disagree because I love a bit of the oul Bizkit but I'll try read on anyway

Right so I've read the review and I think it can be summed up that the reviewer is a bit sour that it's held up as the definitive album of the era, when there are a lot of albums that are as good if not better that didn't get the recognition.

They did use a lot of words to get that point across.

It's a great album but all big things will have their detractors and the reviewer wanted a few hits is the way I see it

I wouldn't agree with you, there. It is nice to strike a chord with a post, though.

Sure look, the criticisms of Hetfield and Ulrich are as old as the album itself and hardly a revolutionary thing to point out. And there is much merit in those criticisms. Ulrich is no Gene Hoglan. Hetfields best vocals are on the 2 Loads. Yet, they still created some of the most compelling metal ever recorded. It can be both ways at the same time!

MOP changed my life as the first metal album I heard around 10 or 11 years old. Tonight I'm listening to Nocturnus, Judas Priest and Lunor Aurora. Metallica were an absolutely grand gateway band for me and I'm actually listening to them a lot more recently as my two boys, 6 and 8, are getting into Puppets, Sandman, Sad but True etc etc.

So like all things, its a bit in the middle. Absolutely not the best metal band ever but certainly far from mediocre.

Nah. I think he really means what he says.

Hard to hear what he's saying when he won't take his own cock out of his mouth  :abbath:

A Metal Archives review, and utter bolloxology - name a more iconic duo.

Reading as much of that as I could stomach reminded me of that Stewart Lee joke about James Corden supposedly being a fan of his: "Like a dog listening to classical music."

Anything of substance he thinks he may have to say is, imo, pretty much cancelled out, in absence of ears to really hear the music, by exploring the actual creative process that went into it:

Look at when it was written. It's revisionist bullshit shat out in the wake of napster and stanger. Christy Brown could've written a more cohesive and reasoned article in shit on a wall with his fucking right foot.

Out of curiosity OP, what points did the reviewer make that you like? I'd be interested in hearing them without having to wade through that review.

Of the sparse bits I've skimmed through, any critique seems to be: "I don't like this iconic part because it's shit and other bands do it better".

Yeah. That one.

I'm like the reviewer myself using that many words to say the same thing
