Iron Maiden were my favourite band in the late 80s but I had lost interest in their new stuff when "No Prayer for the Dying" was released in 1990 and nothing I've heard from them in the intervening years has done much for me (that could be my own tastes changing). Interestingly, the 1990 tour was the one time I got to see them live (with fine support from Wolfsbane who had just released their B-movie sci-fi homage, "All Hell's Breaking Loose Down at Little Kathy Wilson's Place").

I still love their albums from the 80s so when I heard they were going to play only songs from the first ten albums for their forthcoming tour, I figured this would be a good opportunity to see them play live again – even though I'm not a fan of Malahide Castle as a venue. I checked their Budapest set-list and now I'm even more excited. It's a solid set-list and fairly representative of their early albums (though I'd love to see "Running Free" included).

Some difference of kit between the 2 tours. Looks like looks like ol' Simon is playing on a kids set in comparison

Was at the Budapest show. Brilliant gig. Mighty craic when the whole crowd hasn't a clue of the setlist too.

Visuals look alot more 3D in person, compared to the youtube clips.

Thought the band were well on form.

Loved the setlist - would have prefered something else to Aces High & Wasted Years, felt they played those 2 songs quite abit on recent tours. They've got a few songs they cant drop too often like Fear, Beast, Hallowed, Trooper, Hills etc than to add those two songs to that list. But just knitpicking, Aces & Wasted are great songs.

They must be playing to a click on this tour to sync the music with the visuals??? If so, that wouldn't be the drummers fault for a couple of the tunes to sound slightly slower.

FYI there has been another drop of Front standing tickets on Ticketmaster at face value if anyone is looking for one

Never been to a gig in Malahide, what's it like trying to get out afterwards?

Back up for work at 5 the next morning so wondering if I might need to skip the encore if it's going to take ages

Up at 5am? Ouch!

Going to see The Cure in 2019, we got the DART out to Malahide but didn't fancy battling with thousands of others to get a train back to the city centre after the concert. We paid €10 to get a bus back to town but with congested traffic, it took ages to get out of Malahide. When we eventually arrived at O'Connell Street, we could see that lots of Metallica fans had already made it back from Slane before us. That's just one reason I don't like Malahide as a venue. The roads are just too small and residential. I suspect you'll have to skip the encore if you don't want to be stuck in traffic. Best of luck with it!

Am thinking about how to get out of there after the gig also, I live in Phibsborough am considering cycling there and back. Don't think I can deal with traffic or dart madness.

I also live in Phibsborough and when replying to Trev, I was thinking what I should do, myself. I thought of going for a drink afterwards and then getting the last DART back. But that would be a risk as there's a fair chance that the DART station could still be full of fans who weren't able to get on one of earlier trains.

I then looked up TFI's Journey Planner and it estimates that cycling to Phibsborough would take an hour and 20 minutes. I haven't cycled anywhere in months and I'd have to get my bike working again (replace spokes in rear wheel) but I might just do that. It depends on whether I end up going with a friend-of-a-friend or not (I just have one ticket for myself) and what the weather is like on the day (with glasses, I hate cycling in the rain at night).

Sure we could get a tandem bike and share the effort

By Google maps it's about 50 mins which isn't too bad, if I'm not lashing into the beer that is.

After The Cure I stumbled around drunk for a while and then got a bus into town handy enough.

Was talking to a neighbour who said his sister lives in Malahide about a 15 minute walk from the park and I could park at hers. Probably need to skip the last song or two to beat traffic, but fuck it, setlist is big enough and I'm hoping to catch another show next month

Now just to convince my missus to drive so I can have a few pints!

I see they've put up the venue map and there's only one entrance, just wondering how the front standing tickets work?  Is there a barrier across the middle of the field with access to the front? Never been to Malahide Castle so curious as to how they do it.
