That was fucking years ago now, but as I said at the time, the only avenue that would allow them to even attempt to take that kind of moral high ground with respect to anyone else would be to drop the Abaddon Incarnate band name and disown things like the Vermithrax lyrics and 'Soundtrack to Rape' t-shirts. But since then, irony of ironies, Steve (who I presume wrote the Vermithrax lyrics..?) has indeed left AI and so can himself easier distance himself from that legacy than Bill and the lads can!

It was the then bassist, who was highly active in the punk scene, who caused that fuss, as I recall. Sure look it... it's all performative bullshit, whichever way you slice it. I'm sure the dude who had to be revived with smelling salts after reading the Vermithrax lyrics is making a speedy recovery; Irene has managed to come to terms with the trauma of having to share a stage with a band she didn't like; the lads will allow this scandal of epic proportions to blow past like the damp fart that it is; and the world will be fine again in a week or so.

>>>>
I've had a few messages from supporters of the band Abaddon Incarnate

And how they are not homophobic now, and the song has not been played live in 26 years plus it was written by a ex member

The excuse above I can not accept for the reason below-

Firstly the band disappeared from the scene a long time ago after being called out for it !

So they left the scene when streaming was still only small but then over that time uploaded that song onto all of the bands streaming sites and left it up

Secondly streaming sites only in the last few years have been putting up lyrics to songs,so in the last few years they signed off having the lyrics of that song published on the sites.

The band have had years to scrub that song from all platforms but they chose to not to do that and then added lyrics

The band can state all they want that they do not play this song live,
but it being available to hear in the bands catalogue is enough that I call them out for it.

They have chose to make it available,so them stating it's by an old member or whatever is just a shit excuse that I can not except.

This song was a direct attack on anyone that is LGBTQ and it's been very much available for that 26 years

I have read past interviews of them trying to distance themselves but in no interview have they stated that they are sorry for writing or releasing that song in fact they state the song it's self was meant to piss people off and it did that

Their words not mine

So by doing the above they are just as guilty as the ex member for this song and it's availability

The lyrics of this song are and always will be disgusting and still being available is truly disturbing

I'm all for people learning from past mistakes and changing but in this situation I can not accept that over 26 years this song was not removed completely by the band,

That is the reason I call them out now for it and stand by everything I've written in my posts

I bet this lad is great craic after a few cans...

It was as much Steve. On here/MI it was only Steve. And he's sheltered from the fallout now. The lads will prob have to deal with it another few times over the next few years until they pack it in. Which is ironic. That's all I was saying. The world turns.

Ah yeah, I get it. But it's also just a load of nothing really. The lads have explained over the years that they were young and being controversial- old floppy dick even mentioned that in his last crusade there- but it's not good enough. It's never good enough. Sure it makes fuck all odds too me a I have the CD, but if Vermithrax was removed from youtube I'd miss it from the occasiinal online listening experience. It's a fucking great tune. Anyway... grand oul bit of a stretch there now, hah? Well, not for you obviously... but you know what I mean...

Enjoying the grand shortening this year more than I've ever enjoyed a grand stretch tbh  It was actually cold when I went outside for me smoke last night!

It's warming up nicely here. It's yet to reach leaky barse temps, and until that happens, I'll enjoy every minute of it  8)

As far as I remember AI had removed it from their bandcamp a few years ago. Spotify is a different story. They'd have to go through SoM, I'd imagine. This fuckin retard is loving his moment in the sun anyway and he's not going to be happy regardless. Let him go and shite anyway, the absolute melt.

Someone needs to point out to that lad that he's happy to pose for photos with Gahhl who is an actual criminal who went to prison for beating the shit out of someone amd torturing him 😄

But Gaahl is gay so that overrides any other moral quandaries.

I fuckin' hate this mindset that's prevalent now where absolutely anything that causes discomfort needs to disappear completely for them to feel ok, and developing a thicker skin or having a more nuanced take is completely out of the question. It's the same thing as the statue removal crowd who discover in modern times that some Important Person of the past was also a bit dodgy, so now need anything to do with them removed.

And in Alberta they've just passed Bill 28, which prohibits anyone under the age of 16 from reading certain books and those books need to either be removed from libraries, or at least moved to a restricted area, like behind the desk.

So we're getting it from both the left and the right these days, and when we meet in the middle it'll be Brave New World where everyone is a drone devoid of personality or culture, but blankly happy, right? I'm ranting a bit, and I know that won't happen, but jesus christ I wish these people would grow up.

This definitely puts the kibosh on Abaddon Incarnate's chances of having a statue of them erected outside Bruxelles.

We could all chip in and get them a statue erected outside Fibbers. And dedicate it to the lad whose world has fallen apart thanks to Vermithrax  :P

Charles Parnell was partial to a bit of black metal, so I've heard
