Was at the Nekrogoblikon gig tonight, mainly to see Allegaeon but stuck around for the main act. I'd say a good 80% of the crowd were probably around 18-25.

Was good to see that metal is still drawing in a younger crowd. Definitely a different energy to the last gig I was at (I am Morbid) with mostly older heads

Very "meme-y/gimmicky" type stuff, they've a lad dressed as a goblin singing, but otherwise pretty standard pop metal/melodeath type stuff

Seems like they'd be a bit of a gateway band in the same way Slipknot we're 25 years ago, especially when they're bringing bands like Allegaeon out on tour. As an aside , Greg Burgess is a fucking criminally underrated guitarist

I don't understand why there's a fairly substantial number of metal 'fans' who can't listen to anything unless it's wrapped up in parody.

I would imagine,  it's at least partly because it gives the self conscious types a disclaimer for when they're judged by their peers for being into metal. The musical equivalent of a nervous fake laugh.

I've mentioned on here before my feelings on new Elder, but gave this a go yesterday anyway - not bad.  Some bits are class, others are way too polished up and his fuckin vocals again they are gone to the dogs.  For all my giving out I will give it another listen later anyway

Just heard the new Clawfinger song. Back in the awful, awful mid-90's they always seemed to be on the cusp of doing something interesting but the lyrics were and, based on the new stuff, seemingly always will be, just on the wrong side of excruciating, toe-curling cringe. What an achievement!
