Quote from: Giggles on July 02, 2025, 10:07:42 PMA friend of mine was blasting Black Sabbath's 'Heaven and Hell' while stuck in a traffic jam in Cork today (not sure which song).
Some randomer flung a slice of cheese in through the passenger window at him (easy-single, still wrapped), called him a 'Devil Man' and tore off up the hard shoulder 🤷

I dunno if I put this here before but it popped into my head that you could do a mashup of Biohazard - Authority and of Will Smith - Boom Shake The Room. The idea is stuck in my head for the last hour. Just the chorus because thankfully I can't remember how the rest of the Smith one goes

random metal thought of the evening - Macabre somehow pulling of the trick of being genuinely funny whilst not coming across as a novelty band is pretty amazing.

Appetite for Destruction is the greatest fluke in musical history. Genius collection of songs, played, recorded and mixed to perfection. Nothing these cunts have recorded since 1987 is really worth  a flying fuck, however. Yeah, there might be ok reasonable album if you scraped the best songs out of the Illusions and did something about that fucking awful guitar sound but, come on let's be honest, even that is not a good album, never mind a great album. The rest? Yeah, exactly.

So I put it to you, the greatest fluke of all fucking time and the chancers live off it to this day, almost 40 years of abject mediocrity later.

Furthermore, that they continue to fill stadiums with a lad who simply cannot sing anymore, two lads just cashing the cheques and a collection of charisma-free goons is proof, as if it were needed, that people will hear what they want to hear, pay big for it and convince themselves they are truly living their best lives, all because of one truly magnificent record.

Greatest fluke ever.

Well!
You're not wrong, I suppose.

What about Lies?

I agree about the guitar tone on Illusions being weak, but the whole thing, or much of it,  sounds like it was written on piano. The guitar seems to take a back seat in the orchestration. Still, part 2 is mostly savage I think.

Have seen G'n'R twice, around 2007 and around 2018. Both times were class. On the reunion one, Duff and especially Slash gave it socks, the latter barely leaving the stage for over two and a half hours. No complaints. Use Your Illusions II is indeed mostly savage.
