First time in ages that the new album is shorter than the last one? Some of the song names sound like a pisstake -"Lost in a Lost World"?

Also 4 solo Harris compositions - not a good sign these days. The more Smith songs the better for me.

Seriously low hopes for this..more bloated tracks judging by the lengths , wailing by dickinson in standard tuning with a million repeated choruses no doubt. Shirley again doing absolutley nothing in the producers chair. Wonder what the rehashed riff count will be here..book of snores was fairly high..at least the artwork is good

The track names read like something from a random song name generator.

The artwork looks bland to me.

I had a listen to the new song and it's OK. That Shania Twain riff is shite but the rest is grand in a background kind of way. Bruce sounds a bit strained, dare I say? It's a bit of a toe tapper but nothing you'd get terribly excited about.

Iron Maiden have long gone the way of ACDC, Metallica etc regarding new material...one listen to the album never to be put on again....

Not usually into cheap gimmicks to change the original production of the track, but the difference in putting Writing on the Wall 1.25 speed on YouTube is striking. It's still a plod, but it rolls back the years somewhat. Give it a bash then try and listen to it at the intended speed. It's dog rough.

That sounds far, far better...!!!

Makes the intro sound like The Horslips. But also makes the production sound even worse than it is.

I forgot u had to be into extreme metal to be on metal warfare forum, seriously,  some serious bunch of arseheads on here.anything to do with maiden, slayer, megadeth or Metallica is shot down in flames. They'll all be at Ormeau Park next year tho, with their horns in the air, saying how much they love maiden.

You can still love a band and think their new material is shit. How much you love the old material is probably the reason that they are a constant disappointment. That said, I'm impartial towards Maiden so I mean that in the broader sense.

I like the new song! But it's nothing special, like.
And I still think the slightly quicker version mentioned above sounds better as a song.

Still looking forward to hearing the full album, too.

Maiden's old stuff is the business. The new stuff simply doesn't come close. Being into extreme music has nothing to do with my opinion.

For example, yesterday I stuck on Brave New World having not listened to it since it came out. After a song and a half I turned it off. If I had put on Seventh Son or Number of the Beast I would very possibly ended up on a Maiden binge. The songwriting and energy of the old stuff is mind blowing. The later stuff, while occasionally decent, is generally bloated and a bit tame. Why are there three guitarists when half the time one would do...

Also, those bands get more coverage than anyone else on here.

Yeah it's nothing to do with hating on them because they're old/non extreme bands, whenever bands like Metallica, Maiden, Priest, Megadeth etc, I'd always give a curious listen hoping that it's good.

In the case of Metallica and Maiden they just need someone to tell them to reign in the fucking album lengths - 8 songs, 50 minutes, no more.
