Savage man. It's a good feeling  8)

It really is. It has amazed me, the amount of lads who play covers and the likes, who don't have the creative urge, they play someone else's music in their bedroom or in a rehearsal room or on a stage and it fulfils them but, for me, the whole point of picking up an instrument was to make something new out of nothing. Since I started this job, it just fucking emptied me every day and to feel new ideas coming up is just fucking bliss. It's hard to put into words, to be honest, how much it meant to me without realising.

I'm the same. I really have no interest in learning other people's songs because it's tedious and doesn't fulfil me in any real way. Every time I pick up the guitar or bass or uke I try to find a new riff that I can use. If I'm not working on new songs I feel like there's a piece missing in the puzzle of my existence. When things begin to fall into place musically my mind starts firing on all cylinders. Or at least the ones that matter

Cover bands are grand when you're young to get experience. Once I started playing originals in a band that was the cover bands over with. A way more enjoyable experience. But ya, amount of heads I know who are great at their instrument but haven't any inkling to write their own stuff. Weird.

I spent a couple of hours today tweaking and adding a few bits and pieces to a new project I've been working on. It's funny, for all the bits I came up with I ended up deleting most of it and keeping a couple of small parts, but it was still time well Sorrento I think.

I wonder how much of it is "haven't an inkling" vs. "haven't a clue" how to write.

Like your man from Sligo who went on X-Factor and lived with the Osbornes for a while. Dude would have been the poster child for Sharon ("look he's a rocker"), but nope, still couldn't do squat with it.

Give him a guitar and he can play you anything, but ask him to compose something original and he wouldn't have a clue (or be able to deliver you anything that wasn't hot poop).

There's been a scatter of bands over the years around the area like that too.

There's no greater satisfaction than listening to the finished product out loud after days/week/months of toil. And even the toil is largely enjoyable.

Sitting down to watch Monaco, Indy 500 and finally the Coke 600.
Hopefully the winners are Verstappen, Larson, and anyone but Hamlin or Logano.

A bottle and a half of wine into a day where I finished with a job which I simply did not like. Got no idea what to do next, but tonight I'm just going to get locked and listen to good tunes. A very simple pleasure.

Also Ducky's new avatar

Paid week off work for jury duty, I don't know why everyone gives it such a bad rep I've loved every moment.

It was something like 'intent to deceive' as the charge. Facebook marketplace dispute, which when I was picked I was like for fuck sake this is gonna bore the tits off me but was really interesting actually. One guy sold a car to another guy that ended up being reported as stolen, so we had to workout if the seller was deceptive in the sale and had prior knowledge that he didn't have authority to sell. There was a bit more going on but that's the gist, a bunch of witnesses, arguments for and against. So was pretty cool to see first hand and there were some exciting revelations during the evidence. In the end I got outnumbered for a not guilty vote, the guy was a total piece of shit and I was adamant he was guilty but then couldn't really argue my case well enough with the evidence we were shown so he got off. He had a lot going on, cop giving evidence accidentally let slip he was involved in another burglary case and the defense lost it and made the jury leave the court room, parts were hectic.

Had 2 days in the waiting room aswell as a standby and I was just camped out on a couch listening to tunes and watching movies on my iPad. Wasn't needed today so just went to the cinema. Jury duty rules  :abbath:

Well besides some of the absolute fucking mongs I was trapped in the jury room with for 2 days, some seriously insufferable cunts.

Wow, sounds fascinating indeed.
