It really is.

Oxiplegatz - Sidereal Journey .
Pretty much obsessed with this album at the moment. It's utterly bonkers. Alf Svensson from At the Gates' solo project after he left. Batshit proggy 90s stuff that's essentially a metal space opera recorded on a digitial four track with a drum machine and casio keyboard thrown in to all the insane riffing. I guarantee you've heard nothing like it. It's closer to a metal Cardiacs covering the soundtrack to "Battle of the Planets" or a  Pan Thy Monium/Danny Elfman collaboration after 6 cans of Druids than anything. One long song broken into 30something bits.

there's an alternate universe where ATG sounded like this instead of "Slaughter of the Soul" and I want to live in that world.

Holy shit, Oxiplegatz; now there's a blast from the past!

Corr Mhóna- Abhainn.

Rainbow- Rising.

Arcane Sun- s/t.

Negative Plane- the pact

What a wait. I've gone in and out of several musical phases since the last album.   I'm not quite in the space to go crazy for this like I would have ten years ago but on initial listens I feel its a very enjoyable and solid album. I'm not sold on the narrative concept style like Malokarpatan or Cultes Des Ghoules have done previously. But it works just about. It's hard not to feel a bit underwhelmed but then again it sits nicely alongside the first two and is not massively inferior. It's actually a bit like the recent Grand Belials Key album in that regard.

Wouldn't share any of those sentiments. I think it's an amazing album and a perfect addition to their catalogue.

Have the vinyl shipped yet? Looking forward to getting a listen to the whole thing.

New Druid Lord album, pretty good on first  listen!

Generous score for Handle With Care there, that was where I lost interest in them, could never get into it. Game Over is still my favourite thrash album and Survive is also great but that one just didn't do it for me.

Babylon Sad - Kyrie

Was looking through some of my old CD's and found this gem, so dug out the LP and blasted it while the mrs was outside sunbathing. Gothic Spring is still one of my all time favourite songs, the riff at the start is so headband worthy. I remember picking it up in Comet in Cork after it was featured on the metal show one Sunday night with John Kenny. We used to record all the songs on cassette to make compilations - the days before the tinternet...

Hmm, well I listened back to it three times thinking is there anything I don't love about this album and it's really only 'Funky Noise' that I could nitpick at and even that is less than a minute and far from the dross of SR's 31Flavors. The rest of it is classic thrash/crossover to me. Honestly don't get the big divergence you find between Survive and this ,will have to pull that one out and dust it down too. I guess HAC is a tad more streamlined, less sorta off the cuff sounding as Survive was. Jaysus they really fell off a cliff  after that heyday though..

Anthrax: Persistence Of Time

Without a shadow of a doubt their finest hour.

Anthrax: Among The Living

A close second.
