Agreed on the 'final run of songs' comment on KFAD, alongside the many other class tunes on it. The Real Thing is what got me into FNM back in the day and Angledust is the pinnacle of their output. Going to have to stick it on later.

The Real Thing has been somewhat tarnished for me ever since hearing AD, mainly due to Patton's nasally vocal style on most of the songs. Its still a really good album, but the diversity and creativity he showed on the next one with the vocal performances are streets ahead.

The nasal singing style was deliberate. I forget the reasoning but I think it was to do with the fact that those songs were largely written while Mosley was in the band and he had no real input until Angel Dust

That's what I'd have assumed alright, given the fairly short gap between the two albums. Kind of makes it more disappointing when you consider what he might have done with full creative input.

I think he had a say in the lyrics but the music was set in stone by the time he joined, and that was his reaction to it.

Bolt Thrower - The Vth Crusade. Found a fucking scratch on my copy so will be shopping around for a replacement. Monster album.

Demolition Hammer - Tortured Existence and Epidemic of Violence. Epidemic is rawer and faster but I much prefer Tortured Existence. The production is a little warmer sounding and the music and vocals are top notch.

Mastodon - Blood Mountain and Crack The Skye.
Two fantastic albums by one of my all time favourite bands.

It's KFAD for me, I tend to go back to The Real Thing more than Angel dust these days too

I love AD and I think KFAD has some great songs too, but The Real Thing is the winner for me. A very nostalgic album that brings me back to being in primary school. You can't bate nostalgia  8)

Ephel Duath - Hemmed By Light...Shaped By Darkness
Holy Terror - Terror and Submission
Master - s/t (Still a DM masterpiece)
Blind Guardian - Follow The Blind (Still running to lift the needle before the last track)
Angelis Apatrida -s/t  (decent Spanish thrash in the vein of Death Angel/Testament)
Mastodon -Hushed and Grim
Sadus - Chemical Exposure ( Always fun to try to keep up with the lyrics on this one)
Slayer - South of Heaven. ( fave Slayer)
Evile - Hell Unleashed ( Still prefer Matt's vox)

Master and Sadus are some belters right there, but I haven't heard that Ephel Duath. You've just given mena nudge to throw on The Painter's Palette but god damn it's skipping away so got damaged at some stage >:( What's Hemmed by light... like - recommended?

Primary school? Shur yer onee a gasún. I was in first or second year and a guy I knew sold me the tape with a "you'll like this, it's thrash". Needless to say it wasn't, and I was disgusted at first, but soon came around to it and regard it as one of my favourite albums of all time.

Really annoyed me when I bought it on CD, the songs are in a different order (see also: AIC's Dirt).

Same guy, same exact story with Therapy?'s Pleasure Death. I must have been a right gullible fucker back then, thankfully.

Well ya have to be in the mood for Karin Crisis and her gravel gargling vocals but I like it anyway

I'm not a gosún any more. My days off gossúning are well and truly behind me. I had a taped copy of The Real Thing in around 4th or 5th class. We start young in Kildare. Sure I lost my virginity when I was 6 (I wonder how Father Baker is these days)...

The real thing for me has a lot of nostalgia, my cousin from NY and myself spent a few weeks  the summer  it came out listening to it all the time while he was visiting. This and DRI Four of a kind of all things!
