Incantation - Onward to Golgotha
Beherit - Oath of the Black Blood
Beherit - Drawing down the moon

Man drawing down the moon is such a class record. The vocals and general atmosphere are something else!

Gaerea: Loss

They've been listening to Gojira, from the sound of it.

Ram - Forced Entry 9.5/10
The more I pick up of the Swede's discography the more I can't believe how badly I slept on them. This 2005 debut is nigh on supreme Heavy Metal Art.

Ram - Rod 8.5/10
And the 2017 effort, a bit more ambitious with that six part suite to finish but still that solid foundation of Priest/Maiden/Accept that they do so damn well.

Doomsword - The Eternal Battle 8/10
2011 since this last triumphant battle match but still listed as active in the Archives. What gives?

Sargeist - Flame Within Flame 8/10
The superior riffcraft here could have benefitted from a more impactful vocal performance  but all the same, quality from the Masters of Finnish Darkness.

Vried - The Skies Turn Black 7.5/10
Still getting to grips with the intricacies of this one, big improvement on the last couple, the band exploring different styles throughout , sounds like they're a lot more comfortable in their own skins these days, the BM shackles left behind.

Jag Panzer -  Thane To The Throne 7/10
Fifth full length from 2000 saw the U.S. Power Metal veterans tackle Shakespeare's Mac Beth in what was a solid if lengthy affair that could have done with a few more tempo changes or different types of song.

Isis - Panopticon

The new Neurosis album reminded me what a brilliant band Isis were. I need to give Sumac a listen as well, I've never heard a note of their music.

Similar to that, I've been listening to the 3 'classic' Neurosis albums (SAZ, EOTS, TSIB) and a bit of Isis in the last few days in the wake of the new Neurosis. Which reminded me that I never got around to picking up the last Isis album as I wasn't too impressed with it upon release. I must give it a spin after this...

Isis + Aereogramme: In The Fishtank 14

Edit:

Isis: Wavering Radiant

Still not hitting the spot, it's just... there. Sure it was all downhill from Oceanic anyway, they hadn't a hope of topping that.

Neurosis: An Undying Love For A Burning World

The first/intro track is stupid and the 'popping'/percussive electronics in the last track are annoying, but otherwise a fantastic album. They're finally back, and in style.

Neurosis TSIB.

Had a hankering after a couple of runs of the new one, which is excellent but not quite this good

Neurosis - An Undying Love for a Burning World
Qrixkuor - The Womb of the World
Egregore - It Echoes in the Wild

Shrinebuilder: s/t

I heard this when it came out, wasn't impressed at the time but it's going down well now. Still sounds like the sum of its parts as opposed to a proper collaboration but knowing that going in it works a bit better.

Neurosis: The Eye Of Every Storm

First listen in a long time, at least 10 or 15 years.

That Egregore is some listen, be unpacking that for a while.
Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

It's a beast, some insane riffage going on!

Just wish I hadn't seen the band promo shot , still , I'm going to be spending some time with this.
Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

I had to go and look didn't I, cringe.

Gorgoroth - Antichrist  :abbath:

Coroner - Grin
Napalm Death - Time Waits For No Slave
Morbid Angel - Covenant
Suffocation - Souls To Deny
Killing Joke - Absolute Dissent

Fuck yeah, gonna lash that on now myself. I was only singing the merits of early gorgoroth to herself yesterday, after many years of trying to convince her of the merits of black metal she's never strayed from death/thrash until this past week. Transylvanian hunger was the gateway album after all this time!
