Skepticism- Companion.
I didn't warm to that album at all I have to say, I'd take any of their others over it

I think it's decent. My only issue is that the first couple of songs sound a little busy. Perhaps they could have slowed the tempo for maximum effect, but the song writing itself is strong.

New Septicflesh album out tomorrow.

New Predatory Light, superb so far.

Solstice: New Dark Age
Hüsker Dü: Zen Arcade
Nomadic Rituals: Marking The Day
Wolves In The Throne Room: Primordial Arcana
The Cure: Bloodflowers

Hadn't seen this before I went praising bloodflowers in the off topic. Have listened to it 3 times in the last 24 hours

It's great, and overlooked in favour of their classic albums. Probably the best of the post-Wish material IMO.

Is wish good? The allmusic reviews didn't fill me with hope

It is. More upbeat than most of what went before (it's like a breath of fresh air after Disintegration) but still has plenty of their whole... 'brooding' quality. You'll have heard Friday I'm In Love and Doing The Unstuck, probably.

Disintegration was their peak but the subsequent albums are all at least good and worth hearing, despite Wild Mood Swings probably sitting at the bottom of the rankings (along with Three Imaginary Boys) for me.

I know Friday.... but that's it. I'll chance it tonight so. To be fair to them they haven't let me down so far. Not too many bands with as solid a run as they had through the 80s

Carcass- Swansong.

Carcass- Swansong.

That album used to leave the taste of a particularly rancid ashtray in my mouth. Might give it another go, see if my dismissing it like a lady ostentatiously waving away an odious Guinness fart was justified.

Funny, I was chatting about it with friends yesterday and was saying that Carcass are a band I never really got into. I like songs here and there but never got hooked on their stuff. I hadn't heard that album since it came out and I had a loan of it off one of the lads.

I bought a chest of drawers last weekend for my tapes and spent a few hours this morning alphabetising them (bad motherfucker over here!) and stumbled across Swansong on tape with no cover. Turns out it was in a stash of tapes Ray gave me few years ago when he was unloading stuff and I forgot I had it.

I enjoyed it too be honest. It's probably a bit too long but there are a heap of belters on it. Maybe it's time I gave Carcass another chance.

My first exposure to Carcass was through the likes of Swansong and Heartwork. As a teenager listening to that type of stuff at the time I immediately loved it and still have a soft spot for it to this day. Took me a long time to warm to the older stuff which I also love these days but it feels like 2 completely different bands
