Then it becomes a real toe-tapper?

I liked that female vocal, thought it sounded like Melissa from Adorior.
It is indeed. Interesting interview about To the Death

Great interview there, thanks for the link. I'm new to this band and I noticed they are referred to as black metal by the interviewer.
Is it the case that this the 'NZ' black metal sound? Anyway, great stuff! The title track is amazing!
This year has been great so far! Perdition Temple, Vassafor, Temple Nightside, Faceless Burial, Ulcerate to name but a few!

As far as Vassafor are concerned I think it's the subject matter and intent that qualifies it as BM. I've seen VK mention Necromantia, Beherit and Bathory as influences too. It's a broad church.

Been on a diet of Celtic Frost and 80s Voivod the last few days, so had a change of pace this evenings with
Khthoniik Cerviiks - Serologiikal Scars
Malokarpatan - Nordkarpatenland (fucking class)
I'm still mourning Malokarpatans cancelled Spring gig in Dublin.  :'(

I love her vocals with Adorior and will give it another lash now because I enjoyed the album but it was far too jarring and far too CoF on first listen.

Temple Nightside is my pick of that bunch for now followed by PT.

Ya, it's still shit. Both of their heavy vox together are great but the spoken word/whispery bits, the laugh and the little scream are all cuntish. Doesn't work at all for me.

Deicide- Serpents of the light

Beastmilk - Climax

On a similar note, the new Rope Sect is out tomorrow so might have to throw the debut on next.

Novembers Doom - To Welcome the Fade

Esoctrilihum - Eternity of Shaog

Dark Tranquillity-Damage Done. In Flames please take note.

This may interest those currently enjoying the new Temple Nightside. It was the solo BM project of TN mainstay IV, but the above has the same line up as on the current TN album. VK doing solos and BR of Grave Upheaval on vocals. The ep was heavily influenced by DMDS era Mayhem.

Gave it a quick listen, pretty good to these ears. Must give it a proper listen later. Cheers.

I think In Flames gave up caring a while back really.

Dark Tranquillity have always been fairly consistent with their quality - well above average to good/great melodic death. Damage Done being great.
