Darkthrone – Astral Fortress

Hitting the spot nicely  8)

Dark Millennium - Ashore the Celestial Burden

These lads must surely have been a core influence behind Morbus Chron's sound.

Martyrium - L.V.X. Occulta (wonky)
Sort Vokter - Folkloric Necro Metal (oddball)
Black Curse - Endless Wound (catchy)

(the latest black curse was so boring compared to this. They lost that groovy bass and distinct identity. The last one is just the same overkill style I've heard for years even if it's technically solid. No wonder the bassist left)

Been all over the place lately and haven't had much on but a few from the last few weeks that stood out:

Gospel - "The Moon is a Dead World"
Great album I come back to every few months.  Sort of post hardcore, sort of prog, spacey but to the point, lethal auld yoke.

Slift - "Fantasia"
Still at it.  Still great.  Another for the AOTY lists this year anymore definite it is faultless for me.

Fantomas - "Suspended Animation"
An all time favourite, back in rotation.  Wild, chaotic, but just savage.  I remember seeing the tour for this in the Village years ago and it is still one of my favourite gigs I ever saw.

Genghis Tron - "Signal Fire"
Great on the first couple of spins, plenty in here to dig into, will see if it holds up as well as the last album but this seems to have a bit more vigour about it anyway so far.

I had the new Warning album on once and I love it but have yet to go back to it for various reasons.

Transilvania - Magia Posthuma (not heard any of their other output yet, but this is a strong release on Invictus from this year)

Triumpher - Piercing the Heart of the World (they can be a bit OTT at times, but they write some good heavy metal songs)

Tokyo Blade - Tokyo Blade

Ulthar - Helionomicon (didn't listen to this enough when it was released - plenty to get your teeth into).

Manowar - Hail to England

Primordial - The Gathering Wilderness

Howls Of Ebb – Cursus Impasse: The Pendlomic Vows

Great avantgarde DM

Coheed & Cambria - Vaxis Act III

Find these lads consistently good, even if I can't make any sense of the whole Armory Wars concept

Megadeth - Youthanasia
