Australamania today..
Ill Omen - AE. Thy. Rift
Portal - Swarth (listened while hoovering the house and the hoover noise made no difference )
At the moment is Funeral Mourning - Inertia of Dissonance.. Love this album, raw BM played at a funereal pace with some nice atmospherics.

Sweet - Live at the Rainbow 1973

It be rocking. Heavy stuff.

Godflesh - Us and Them

I'm getting that buzz where an album I know like the back of my hand seems like I've never really heard it before. I love when this happens

Definitely an underrated album in their discography, but I don't think they have a bad one so I'm kinda biased. Just got the reunion material recently (physically, that is), it's great that they're back. There's an Us & Them In Dub album in the works, apparently.

I was reading up on the forthcoming remix album after I saw you mention it a while back and it seems it will be a while coming, but I will be looking forward to it. In the meantime, I feel like listening to this one after spending a lot of time with Post Self makes it sound different. Probably not explaining that properly but sure... It's really great stuff. Also, I've said this before but I honestly think that every Godflesh album is underrated. Cannot understand why they are so niche I really can't

Putting music that heavy over hip hop beats was always going to be a hard sell, and the early stuff was so Swans-influenced that again, it would be divisive. That brief Columbia Records deal Earache did in the mid-'90s was probably the peak of their exposure (I remember a very polished video for Crush My Soul) but they've always done the business on their own terms, inbetween breakups and breakdowns.

It's probably as simple as the fact that they turned out to be so unique as well. A lot of Swans in the early stuff indeed, but they never lost out on the same basic sound while twisting it in every direction around that axis. Every album has its' own personality while all still sounding very Godfesh. Really impressive catalogue and still a unique proposition to this day

I took years of abuse for being first of all into pop, electronica, aor etc almost as much as metal, this would be going back to the 80s, and second of all for thinking you can mix these types of music with some good results if you're lucky. All through the years people would say oh you'll be one for Godflesh so. Never was. It just doesn't seem to do anything. My view is the type of industrial and electronica stuff they chose to marry with metal was from the side of things which were already close enough to the metal template anyway, so the amalgam was just....slightly blurred metal.

An interesting point but no not a hope. I'm also into pop and electronica as much as any metal, but if you can't bring yourself to like Godflesh you are just listening to it wrong is all.

I'm as surprised as anyone really, but sometimes you just don't like stuff even if it's completely your kind of thing.

Hang on, a lad is after sending me the best thing ever.

Sweet jesus this is fantastic by any standing and ultimately serves to accentuate the quality of the source material. Fuck this is so good. SO GOOD.

Fuck when I think about it, Nirvana were so fucking brilliant

Edit 2: Don't deny yourselves this one, it is truly brilliant

I'm actually getting a bitta buzz off that.. in 2011 that would have been bang on, bit late in the day but enjoying the hiss!

They have a few various artists Nirvana tribute albums there too. Varying results.

Just listen to the album and let it wash over you just how good that Nirvana actually were. I bet you will say something along the lines of "OH GOOD LORD THAT IS SOME FAT BASTARD" at least once before the end. It sounds like it's played entirely in tribute by somebody who loves Nirvana as much as I do but who also happens to be able to do something to scratch the itch

I'm mostly bored by music these days but I enjoyed that covers album. Got through 6 tracks, loving the hiss, the dirtiness. I miss being young in the early 90s, that buzz of grunge and dance music, nipping into town to buy ONE cd or a couple tapes having saved up the old pocket money, naughty milkshake at eddie rockets, bitta metal hammer out of easons, bottle virgin cola, back out on the dart, kick a ball on the green, listen to the saved for album, cuppa with the folks, get set up for that weeks 2fm metal show, record it onto cassette, lot of Nirvana and Soundgarden in that period, fair bit sepultura and carcass, Im gonna cry now.
