Had presumed this was just a bunch of young lads on a revivalist buzz. Nope: John Gallagher from Raven on bass and vocals! Surely can't be him hitting those falsettos though!? Anyway, currently giving their 2023 album Treacherous Ways a go. Killer tr00 metal  :abbath:

Yeah, it must be the other Alex fella listed as a vocalist as well, I must hunt down that first one, only got into them last year with 'Chasing..' , you must have great meat and potatoes out there my man if these and 'Diamonds' are anything to go by!

Nailbomb - Point Blank

I had that on last week. A few cool tunes but it gets a bit tedious. I loved it when it came out but yeah,  not one that has aged terribly well.

Agreed. There's an awful lot of filler and similar sounding tunes. It would have made a far better EP.

Yeah, it could easily be cut in half.

The fucking disappointment of that Nailbomb album, especially when you're 17 with limited CD buying power.

I think "Cockroaches" is the only memorable track on it.

Never really got they hype around it, few decent tracks but that's it

Funny though to see the Cavalera's bitch about Kisser playing old Seps songs Max wrote, while simultaneously touring Nailbomb without Alex Newport

Few good songs but it was always average at best.

When it first came out I hadn't heard anything like it before, I thought it was wild. Still have the cassette. There is quite a bit of dust on it now.

Today has been mostly Slayer.

I'm reading the Chuck book so it has been the Death discography for a few days now.

Always struck me as a bunch of riffs that weren't good enough for Fudge Tunnel.

Just listen to Fudge Tunnel instead.

While watching a muted documentary about Nam war crimes, if you need the full experience.

I saw them doing Point Blank live in full twice and it was great. Alex has no issue with them playing the Nailbomb material.

Thrash The Wall -  Compilation 9/10
Lots of love and nostalgia for this old 1990 comp. released in aid of East German Metal. Alas the only East German band here are Rochus and you'd have to say they were miles behind featured bands here like Rage, Sodom and Helloween not to mention international acts like Sepultura, King Diamond and Motorhead. Killer comp.

Gjendod - Svekkelse 8/10
I went back to this quite a lot last month as it was just lingering on the fringes of my Favourites List. Ultimately it didn't make it but this is still superior Black Metal from a band that continue, apace, to prove themselves a cut above.

Crypt Sermon - Saturnian Appendices 8/10
The EP from last year where the major point of interest for most may have been the De Mysteriis cover. It doesn't do much for me, sounding like a diluted, meandering version of the original as it does, the real import here are the three new tracks all of which are excellent and still in the vein of the classy, epic doom of The Stygian Rose.

Acid Blade - Powerdive 8/10
2022 debut from the band formerly known as Angel Blade ( Yeah, I don't know why either, much better name) and this is some real stubborn throwback stuff, a timewarp to the late eighties and bands like Omen , Warlord and particularly Heavy Load. If you love twin guitars and the near King Diamond levels of the vocalist you're good to go.

Vicious Rumors - Concussion Protocol 7.5
From 2016, album No.12 from the U.S. stalwarts, an end of the world, societal collapse concept to this one and for the most part it packs a fair old Flotsam and Jetsam style punch.

Cathedral - Supernatural Birth Machine 7/10
The English wryds added some seventies sounding porno funk to their cauldron here and while Side A has some strong tunes, the album fades out with probably the band's weakest material in an otherwise stellar discography.
