Agreed  . Atheist, Cynic and Death did the prog / death metal hybrid style better. Tried the last BI album and I just found it tedious.  I realise it was highly thought of but ..

Ya, I very rarely, if ever, feel the need to put them on. That said, I nevermind listening to them and the gig earlier in the year was exceptional.

Their earlier releases are grand, but Absolute Elsewhere is a Frankenstein's monster of half-arsed death metal riffs and Dr. Who moog freakouts.

Yes, the earlier material is great. They lost me though from 'Hidden History...' , to each his own I guess.
