What's the Redshark like Anvil, I've steered clear so far , looks cheesy as hell?

Acrimony- Hymns to the Stone. Genetic kind of stuff, nothing remarkable really, but I'm enjoying it for what it is all the same.

I liked their first album so had to get this (it is the law) but I've only given it one spin so far.  Terrible artwork. Nothing original, but solid 80s Heavy/Speed metal inspired stuff.  Wouldn't say it is overly cheesy, but definitely a try before you buy.

Vintersorg - Vattenkrafternas Spel
Overkill - Under the Influence
Moonspell - Wolfheart
Hypocrisy - A Taste of Extreme Divinity

Barren Path – Grieving
Gridlink - Coronet Juniper

Barren Path is the 2 lads from Gridlink with a new singer who has more of a death metal style. It's 13 and a half minutes of grinding bliss. Takafumi Matsubara is a fucking beast of a man.

Alice In Chains – Black Gives Way To Blue

Cracking opening riff in 2nd track 'Check My Brain'

Ah yeah, was just going by the cover, hey look I'm all over the new Ultra Raptor which sounds similar so I guess I can stretch to a half human half shark in ripped jeans and ammo belts stomping through downtown Gaza (looks like).

I love that album (and that's a great, sleazy riff), the best of the reunion era albums by far.

Öld Black- DTR/RTD.
In The Woods...- Isle of Men.

I've spun this new Unfyros track a few times. Good stuff, liked the previous releases, curious to hear the new album.

Novembers Doom - To Welcome the fade

Nortt - Endeligt 8.5/10
A soundtrack to being cast adrift in space, sparse, ethereal notes and keys accompanying you on your final voyage into the void.

Chastain - Demos 84/85  8/10
CD anthology of Chastain's earliest recordings, great quality it has to be said, Leather Leone on top form and sounding tough as nails over the band's commanding Heavy/Power Metal.

Bathory - Requiem 8/10
Very partial to this unrelenting ,raw as fuck thrash from Quorthorn though bizarrely my tape from 1994 has the track list in alphabetical order rather than the order they are played in. Twice. WTF?

Ultra Raptor - Fossilized 7/10
Brand new from the Canadians and behind the robotic dinosaurs and Ferrari overalls gimmickery there is lots to like about their brand of Heavy Metal ala Priest, Exciter etc. Liking this more than I anticipated.

Sacrifice - Vol.6  6/10
Conversely, I'm liking this less than I anticipated. Sure, it's expertly executed, hard hitting thrash but the band seem to have updated now to a more modern, hyper aggressive attack that all sounds a bit bland and soulless to me. If you're looking for a record to fill that Slayer sized hole in your life though..

Morgul Blade - Heavy Metal Wraiths 5/10
Blind buy from last year, Tolkien themed Heavy Metal that is let down by the vocals for me. I get that they were going for the wraith like sound but this kind of melodic stuff was crying out for a good old soaring Dickinson job.

My favourite Bathory album, but that annoyed the hell out of me too. Bloody pointless.

Never thought I'd see people defending Requiem by Bathory. Not their best but I always enjoyed it for what it is;nasty ass thrash. Some cool tracks on it. Far better than the abortion that is Octogon
