Exhumed - Necrocracy 7.5/10
One of my favourite logos is the blood dripping metallic Exhumed one, it's not on this fifth record but their splice and dice grinding Death is here in spades, honed to a scalpel sharp edge. Good stuff.

Imperialist - Prime 7.5/10
My first pick up from these Black/Death Californian cosmonauts and I'm pretty impressed, a less widdly Obscura that crucially don't get bogged down in self indulgent meanderings. A late knock at the back door for this year's Top Twenty mayhap.

Rage - A New World Rising 7/10
Peavy is certainly pumping them out of late and this one sees the band take a more optimistic world view in an album that's fizzing with positive energy and the band's signature catchy Metal tunes. The antidote for the new Evoken if needed.

Venator - Pyschodrome 7/10
Second full length out earlier this year from the magnificently mustachioed Austrians who play good, solid NWOBHM like the 90's never happened. Which they didn't for these boys, considering they were mostly spent in their nappies.

Black Sabbath - 13    4/10
You know you're bang out of luck when your randomizer sends you scampering to the Sabbath shelf and out of them all you get this one. Urgh. Astonishing to think this was Sabbath's only number one album in America. And here, for that matter.

Dark Forest - Oak, Ash and Thorn 6/10
Ye olde English Metal, more raise a glass of mead than raise a spiked fist, Iron Maiden without the Iron, it's decent but all a bit....pleasant.

Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

Alice In Chains - Facelift
Corrosion Of Conformity - Blind
Metallica - Ride The Lightning

Still waiting on the new Coroner so making do with some old crackers

Mighty stuff. A great mix of OSDM with hints of black metal and Atheist/Pestilence-style vocals.

Suffering from a dose of Metal Fatigue this week but the minute or so of this has it on my list for a proper listen soon

Legend - Death in the Nursery
Hooded Menace - Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration (haven't seen much hype or talk about this, but it is actually pretty good, aside for the Duran Duran cover, which sounds like a "What if Duran Duran sounded like Paradise Lost AI version".
Kommand - Death Age
In The Woods... - Otra (not sure this is what I want from In The Woods... but as a stand alone album, I actually really like this).
Coroner - Dissonance Theory
Coroner - Punishment in Decadence

It's very good. I assumed they were a Chilean band as most of the high quality death metal from recent years is coming from there, but they're actually from Kansas.

Can't argue with that  8)

Flames- Made in Hell. Random pick from scrolling metal archives. This is fucking cool. Raw demo-ish speed metal/ thrash from Greece in 1985. Pretty extreme sounding.

Qrixkuor – The Womb of the World (it really is something, gonna give it proper attention tonight)

Bastard Cröss - Crossripper (quite enjoyed these guys, nothing new but done very well in my opinion)

Drain:....is Your Friend.
