What a great run !

up to 4 is amazing..and they've all just got legit vinyl reissues I see
Quote from: Pentagrimes on October 11, 2025, 11:45:53 AMIt's absolutely not a metal album at all. That song is pretty representative I'd say

Giving the new Criplling Alcoholism a spin now

What did you make of the Crippling Alcoholism album?
I listened a few times. Not site what I think of it. An array of influences all mixed up.

I like the CA album, but I loved the first album as well so no surprise. As for the new one .. yeah, I like it but it's about 5 songs too long and my interest had kinda waned by the last 2 songs.

Again, key thing here is it's not a metal album, so if you go in expecting that you'l be disappointed. It sounds like a depressed, heavier New Order on bad drugs to me. Not really sure why they're being talked about as a metal band.

Anyway, new Menace Ruine on this morning, sounds great.

Why wouldn't they be talked about. I checked them out while looking for some dark post punk stuff, and they were recommended on the post punk thread on ROD. I thought they were OK for a song or two, kind of interesting and unique, but by three or four songs I found them annoying. That doesn't mean they are a terrible band, just not my bag.

Np.

Magazine- Real Life. I've never listened to these lads despite the name being one of those which has always been in the ether. Some really cool stuff. I particularly like the more snarly sounding songs so far.

Magazine are fucking amazing. "Second Hand Daylight" is my go to. I think I've said it before but it's hard to hear the song "Back to nature" without thinking FNM might have been fans, bang of "Angel Dust" off it

Death - Scream Bloody Gore
Winterfylleth - The Dark Thereafter
Vintersorg - Vattenkrafternas Spel

Only know that one and it's great. Shot By Both Sides is a banger of a tune.

Yeah it's savage.

Piss - three demos
Really promising hardcore/noiserock with class vocals. Live sets on youtube have a few extra songs im excited to see recorded.

Bell Witch - Mirror Reaper
I think its a weekly ritual at this stage I listen to this album. Slow undulating melancholy. Absolutely adore it.

I'd never heard of Crippling Alcoholism until a couple of weeks ago.
The new album was revised on AngryMetalGuy.
It's definitely interesting, not sure how often I'd go back to it.

Carcass - Heart work
Primordial - How It Ends
Slayer - Show Mo Mercy

Black Sword Thunder Attack - Black Sword Thunder Attack (Epic metal from Greece, it has a  strong Lordian Guard/Warlord influence, really enjoyable album if you are into that sort of thing).
Immolation - Acts of God
Marduk - Dark Endless
Vintersorg - Odemarkens Son
Gjendod - Krigsdoger
Satan - Songs in Crimson

Bölzer discography.

Mate sent me a message asking me if support bands to Primordial were worth checking out. Singing Bölzer's praises could only lead to this. New full length would be great!

It must be coming soon.

Burzum- Dauði Baldrs.

Enjoyed it but it gets fierce samey.

Mad auld psych black metal.  Lofi production, mental passages, slide guitar, it has a bit of everything, comes out class.  Except maybe the back half of the 15 minute jam track on there, it's grand but the rest of the album is better.

That Gates of Dawn is really class, all kinds of things going on. Anyone else get Carnún vibes off the first track? Shame I was too slow to order the vinyl, will have to put it on the list with the Altai Sayan album as things to be tracked down.

Kaeck – Gruwelijk Onthaal

Third album from this underrated Dutch band who are one of the most consistent black metal bands on the go.

This one is slightly less intense than their last effort but it's just as mighty. Ominous synth-heavy black metal.   :abbath:
