Ozzy - No More Tears, Live & Loud.

I'd say the former is his best outside the first two (honestly there's more bangers on this than Diary).

Live & Loud I haven't heard this in about 23 years. It also leads me to the question - why is Zack Wylde so disliked? He's fucking savage on this.

He was pure savage back in those days. Pride & Glory and Book of Shadows are great too. Even into early BLS.
But he just kinda lost the run of himself after a while.
Just got fairly bland, really.

He looks boring as fuck on stage these days too compared to years back.
He even makes Pantera look boring.

He has someone offstage operating his pedals, is that a common practice?

Black Sabbath - Technical Esctasy
Black Sabbath - Never Say Die
Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard of Oz
Black Sabbath - 13 (I actually really liked this at the time of release and listen to it a lot, but don't think I have actually went back to it until now.)

I need something a bit different now.

Havukruunu - Havulinnaan
Krisun - Works of Carnage
Gorguts - The Erosion of Sanity

Ya, common enough for bigger acts. Dimebag also did it. Metallica do it etc.

If I had budget for that I'd definitely do it, pedals are annoying  :abbath:

Def Leppard - Hysteria
Compelled to listen to this again after mentioning in the misheard lyrics thread.
Such an impeccable piece of 80s rock and the album that got me into rock and metal in the first place.
Struck me so much more this morning though just how many things Joe sings that I still don't have a clue what he's saying

Ozzy Osbourne: first 6 & Tribute on shuffle.

Never paid much attention to his solo stuff but sure giving them a spin now.

Hecate Enthroned - Kings Of Chaos 5/10
After two decent symphonic BM efforts Hecate took on more DM influences on this release, maybe in an effort to come out of Cradle's shadow but to little success. It's quite a feral record at times no doubt but ultimately pretty forgettable.

Sodom - The Arsonist 7/10
Rumoured to be the last in a while from the grizzled veterans, The Arsonist, while more than servicable, is prone to falling into the same mid tempo riff patterns that have plagued the band for a while now. A few more like the ferocious Slayer-esque 'Trigger Dicipline' would have pepped up these 50+ minutes no end.

Einherjer - Odin Owns Ye All 8/10
A lot of nostalgia to this one for me having gorged it prior to seeing the band with Old Man's Child and Cradle of Filth way back when. No better music for a drinking horn full of mead. I'm making it work with a cup of tea these days though.

Anathema - Judgement 9/10
While Alternative IV and even Eternity had signposted the lush, downbeat Alt-Rock direction Anathema were headed for it was on Judgement where they truly took flight for pastures new. A lot of emotional investment in this one and it's older brother, from when life was more messed up, that resonates still.

Mortuous- Upon Desolation 8/10
Second outing from the Californians, brutal and merciless Death Metal ala Immolation, Incantation and I'm even hearing a bit of old Baphomet in there. This is pretty killer if your idea of a good time is being mown down by a tank and run over. Repeatedly.

Engulfed - Unearthly Litanies of Despair 8/10
Finally landed this second album from the Turks the other day (released last year), a neat little red shell cassette from Dark Descent. Much like the Mortuous this is uncompromising ,unadulterated Death Metal (though with more occult overtones) that would have been devoured in the early nineties by the underground hordes.
