Death - Scream Bloody Gore 9.5/10
In a week where I've been checking out the 'tribute band ' it would have been remiss not to go back to the birth of Death and nod, sagely.

Yoth Iria - Blazing Inferno 9/10
Threw this one into a Listenable order on spec, well I'd done enough research to know the bassist used to be in Rotting Christ and Varathron. No surprises from the Hellenic Metal on offer here then other than the fact that it is exceptionally well done. Like Rotting Christ (circa Theogonia) before they took to writing soundtracks for Gladiator movies. Highly recommended.

Unanimated - Ancient God Of Evil 8.5/10
Another pick up from Listenable, a cassette of this highly melodic Death Metal release from 1994 whose singular album cover has always caught my eye in magazines yet I somehow avoided it til now. Great to finally have it in the collection. Love the harsh, raspy vocals that really keep all those catchy melodies grounded in sub-zero temperatures.

Monstrosity - Rise To Power 8.5/10
Y'know, I think Monstrosity are a little hard done by sometimes when I see them described as second tier American DM. A string of expertly crafted albums such as this attest otherways. Sure they may not have a stand out 'Legion' or 'Altars..' but they do kick seven shades out of many a Deicide or Obituary album.
Just saying like.

Memoriam - Rise To Power 8/10
Chances of two albums of the same title coming off the shelves through the random system I employ must be astronomical but here we are, Memoriam's latest and strongest record from 2023. Must be a new one due shortly I'd imagine.

Gruesome - Silent Echoes 7/10
So I've finally caved in and picked up a Gruesome album, this one coming across as the missing link between 'Spiritual..' and 'Human' though in truth it's more of a B-Sides from both those classics. It's good, no doubt. It's uncanny, disconcerting even. And it still doesn't sit right.

Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

Season of Mist have the new Cryptopsy up and it's pretty impressive. Hopefully have my physical copy next week.
Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

Crippling Alcoholism- With Love From a Padded Cell

Hyena - About Rock and Roll
Hydra Vein - Unlamented
Cheap Trick - Next Position Please
Rush - Fly By Night.
Seven Sisters - Shadow of a Fallen Star PT 2
High Warden - Astral Iron
Lord Vicar - Fear No Pain.

Cannibal Corpse - Tomb of the Mutilated
Mortal Decay - Forensic

Forensic is a classic. I think people lump Mortal Decay in with all the brutal slamwank bands, but imo they're like a more twisted version of Cannibal with Demilich vocals, and some unexpectedly beautiful guitar passages.

Sumerlands - s/t
Hexvessel - Nocturne (didn't grab me on first listen)
Primordial - Exile Amongst the Ruins
Hexecutor - Where Spirit Withers in its Flesh Constraint (this keeps getting better on each listen: like Peste Noire meets King Diamond)

Black Sabbath- Headless Cross. I've said it before and I'll say it again,  Kill in the Spirit World is pure Baywatch. Savage tune  8)

The Cure- Songs of a Lost World.
The Cure- Seventeen Seconds.
Solstice- New Dark Age. Obligatory listening for the day that's in it.

Lady Beast - The Inner Alchemist
Lord Vicar - Fear No Pain
Aganoor - Doomerism (new CD I bought on a whim... Liked the art, and the burb so in the basket it went. I am a marketers dream.  Italian Doom from My Kingdom Music.  Think it is well crafted and has lots of interest. Only given it one spin so far so needs more listens).
Black Sabbath - Forbidden
Immortal - Sons of Northern Darkness
