Ministry – The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste

... cracking stuff

Never seen them live
They any good?

Skyforger doing very little for me. May give Loits a lash.

Saw Xentrix mentioned somewhere or other on this forum and I'd never checked them out before so I gave For Whose Advantage a go because I liked the cover (in fairness, they had several class covers). Holy fuck though, I cannot believe how much they're ripping off Metallica. It's like that band is literally their one influence, aside from one or two tiny bits of Maiden, but like 99% Metallica.

Funny thing is the album is pretty good, but I just found myself struggling to enjoy it given the sheer brazenness of how much of a ripoff it was.

The thrash vibe did lead me to ST - Join the Army, and Scatterbrain though, so a great evening was had all round.

If you thought that was influenced by Metallica, give Five Serpent's Teeth by Evile a listen.

Solefald - The Linear Scaffold.
Bed Buens Ende - Written in Waters

They 100% could have sold this to 'Tallica as ghost writers and the world would have claimed it as the second coming.

It's utterly derivative of AJFA, but it's also cracking.

Yep, if that came out after AJFA it'd fit right in. I like the black album and all, but I think we'd all have preferred something like FST.

Another 'Tallica ish release from England in '89 was Slammer 'The Work Of Idle Hands'

Somehow I have the promo EMI cassette.

Not bad though .

Stuck on Dreamkiller tonight, after listening to the Sumerlands s/t again. First time Dreamkiller has hit! Only the second last song still seemed a bit dull.

I've been buzzing on that new Hexecutor you flagged recently Shep, grabbing it of Dying Victims this week. Those boys can play.

I can't get into it at all.  Must give it a few more listens, but it just hasn't clicked with me.

Lord Vicar - Fear No Pain
Solstafir - Hin Helga Kvol
Trigger Zone - The Pain Principle
Hexvessel - Nocturne

Great album.  Only saw them live once and it was lethal but have heard mixed reports over the years.

Reminded me of this https://youtu.be/PcQB4eCezIo?si=NcRg0rmnDIkPuby7
Which I haven't watched in years and will put on over the weekend.

Yes great live and in recent years they have finally started playing stuff again from the Land of rape and honey along with stuff like Breathe and Burning Inside. They were suppose to play here 2 or 3 years ago but the tour was cancelled over some festival mix up I think and they never bothered rescheduling the Irish date. I was also at what was suppose to be the last ever Ministry show in the Tripod back in 2008.

One of the best live shows ever released

I don't have a copy of Imrama, but Andy's post put it in my head to listen to some older Primordial, so:

Primordial - Dark Romanticism
Primordial - Spirit the Earth Aflame
