This is great stuff. I ignored these lads as I thought they'd be a zero sugar version of noise rock. Gave them a spin after seeing astfgyl raving about them. Very fucking intense. They remind me of the AmRep bands I used to love in my 20's.

Make sure to give the the two debut EPs ("This Dungeon Earth", "Remove Your Skin Please") a go. I like the albums, but enjoy these more.

Just listened to the 2 EPs. Great stuff. They're less sludgy sounding on these releases, whereas there's more of a pronounced Godflesh/Korn influence in the LPs.

I have the 2 EPs and LPs on CD in my basket ready for payday. I might even buy a T-Shirt.

This has reminded me that I must check KEN Mode out. They were a band people always recommended to me, but I never got around to listening to.

Nice one! Yeah "Remove Your Skin Please" in particular sounds like it's Bleach-era Nirvana filtered through Godflesh.

KEN Mode are fucking amazing too. Why Don't You Just Quit from "Entrench" is one of my favourite songs ever written.

The new Gruesome single "A Darkened Window". I'm forever amazed at Matt Harvey's ability to write songs so close in style to the bands he's aping, especially as he's moving through the different eras of Death.

A full album of songs in the style of Human/ITP? Yeah fuck it, I'll have that.

Ah yeah, a fun listen, and I'm sure I'll have fun giving the full album a listen, but even though this is my personal favourite period of Death's music... I still don't really see the point of the whole project.

Maybe Harvey's having fun?   :abbath:

I find the project interesting. A tribute band that said "fuck it" and wrote original music instead of touring covers.

And at least Harvey is explicit about Gruesome's purpose. I never delved into Exhumed past the first two or three albums, but all I can think whenever I listened to them was "Steer and Walker might need to chat to their copyright people".

Malicious - Deranged Hexes
Bones - Sombre Opulence

Steve Von Till- As the Crow Flies.
Harvestman- Lashing the Rye.
Scott Kelly- The Wake.

The Blood & Time album would go well with those.

I've been meaning to do a sweep of all the later SVT albums. I'll do it one day...

Motörhead- 1916.

That was actually Scott Kelly and a couple of others (presumably why it's Name Your Price on the Neurot Bandcamp page) but it's along similar lines as the SVT stuff. 23 years old now.

Yeah the name rings a bell alright but I can't remember ever listening to it.

The Cure- Seventeen Seconds.

Messa - The Spin
Another great album. Probably their best sounding album so far. Some lovely guitar tones and playing from Alberto

Digging the new Messa as well but still only given it a few spins.

Messa - The Spin
Sinner Rage - Powerstrike
Benediction - Ravage of Empires (just some simple, but good Death Metal.  Plenty of catchy riffs).
Drudkh - Shadow Play (similar to what Thorn said earlier, get past the intro track and there is plenty to like about this... For me the intro adds nothing to the album.).
Helloween - Master of the Rings
The Halo Effect - March of the Unheard (nothing new but solid MeloDeath.  Gets a 7/10 from me).
Wolfsbane - Live Faster...

Portal - Ion
Portal - Seepia
Impetuous Ritual - Relentless Execution of Ceremonial Excrescence
Impetuous Ritual - Iniquitous Barbarik Synthesis
Teitanblood - From the Visceral Abyss
Blutschwur - Reclaim the Fire
The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath A Cloud – Self titled

Tiamat -Wild Honey.
Death - Leprosy.
High Parasite -Forever we Burn.
Enslaved -Heimdal.
Decapitated -Winds of Creation.
