Quote from: Grim Reality on November 30, 2024, 11:06:27 PM32 years old. That late 80s/early 90s European sound and vibe. Very different to what was coming out of the US. Its essential stuff for any type of metal head in my opinion.

I picked up Ceremony of Opposites on CD in the 90s after seeing Baphomet's Throne on HBB. It has recently been reissued on vinyl which I must pick up. I have to pick up that one too at some point.

I've never given anything after Worship Him much time, must give them a blast in work this week.

Sodom - Get What You Deserve

Overkill-The Years Of Decay

My Slaughtersun LP arrived today. It looks great but I haven't had a chance to stick it on yet. Been listening to a coupe of other Dawn records though. Near Sólen Gar Niþer for Evogher on now. I have this on CD but haven't listened to it in years. Really good stuff.

Yeah Naer Sòlen is great.had it on repeat for most of a day last week, couldnt stop listening to it. So underrated.

The Obsessed - Sacred
Wishbone Ash - Pilgrimage (only know this and Argus, really must explore more of their stuff)
Obscura - Omnivium (recommended from the recent Obscura thread. It is a banger).
Reaper - Viridian Inferno
Amulet - The Inevitable War
Cathedral - Forest of Equilibrium

new Mefitis album just landed

edit: half way through and as delighted as previous, there's a lot going on here. Still has the feel of the more melodic Scandin Death/Black intersection, the oddness and melody of some of the more imaginative  bands in that era (Crypt of Kerbeos Circa "World of Myths", Sentenced's "North From Here", Emperor, Eucharist, early Arcturus bla bla) but it's like harmonically the songs were writen by Voivod and Tim Smith out of the Cardiacs.

But also it genuinely doesn't sound like any of the bands I mentioned at all.

Got the Fabricant LP in the same package so goodbye brain.

After watching the doc while waking up this morning, decided to go through all this as work soundtrack:

Blood Incantation - Interdimensional Extinction
                  - BI/Spectral Voice split
                  - Starspawn
                  - Hidden History of the Human Race
                  - Timewave Zero
                  - Luminescent Bridge
                  - Absolute Elsewhere

Only have the first and last off that list in physical format, will have to be rectifying that somewhat.

Dawn- Slaughtersun. Some real rippers on this. The Knell and the World,  Falcula and The Aphelion Deserts are jumping out at me. But Jayney Mack, they fairly hammer the ideas into the ground. Probably blasphemy to say for some of you who have been listening to this for a long time but a bit of editing wouldn't have gone astray  pretty cool all the same and nice to finally have a copy. I think that album cover is one of the best.

Edit. Reading along to the lyrics might have made the experience a little more excruciating than necessary. Bar The Aphelion Desert lyrics which are a bit clumsy but definitely a cut above the others, the lyrics are very teenage.

I must seek this reissue out actually, never had a physical copy of this one. Agreed on the editing though.

Trouble - Psalm 9

Blasting this slab of doom magnificence while I work. What an album.

Is it just me or does Eric Wagner sound a bit like the bould Axl Rose?

I always heard that similarity.

It's very present on Manic Frustration.

Tankard - Zombie Attack
Dodsferd - The Parasitic Survival of the Human Race
Stress Angel - Punished by Nemesis
Riot - Fire Down Under
Animalize - Tapes From The Crypt
Barbarian - Viperface
