It probably sounds even better as a copy.

DIO - Holy Diver
DIO - Last In Line
DIO - Sacred Heart
DIO - Intermission
DIO - Donington 83

On a Ronnie/Viv kick today.

Vltimas, latest album,it didn't really grab me like the first one did,but it's growing.

Cavalera: Schizophrenia

Listened to it for the first time on the walk home there, it's class. I was dubious about this as there's nothing wrong with the original, but they've done a great job of it. Probably the best of the three rerecordings, a pleasant surprise.

Ah lovely I must get that on now that it's out in full.

Anyway, Devin Townsend - Ziltoid The Omniscient for me today. Probably the last hurrah for him in terms of really good albums (might be controversial). I was horrified at the concept at the time but it's just a really good album.

Musically it's fantastic (and I'd agree on the quality thing, nothing he's done since has held my interest - or at least nothing I've heard, it's a few albums since I bothered with him), but the skits/voices/intros in character are beyond annoying. For the second Ziltoid album he released a version with just the songs, I wish he'd do the same for the first one.

Yeah I agree with that. I disagreed with you on taking the fluff out of Infernal Love but you're spot on here.

Anyway, I just listened to the redo of Schizophrenia and fuck me is it ripping. Fair fucking play to both the lads and Protools but they've really done a smashing job here. Reminds of my post in the controversial thread saying I've more interest in it than BTR at the minute and this cements that

I still prefer the original, it's the Sepultura album I listen to the most as I've played BTR and Arise to death over the years but they've done a fantastic job on it alright, it sounds bloody brilliant. Pure savagery. If they could keep their heads in the place that these rerecordings came from and wrote something new in the same vein, I'd be exoira and deloira.
