Motörhead- Another Perfect Day.

I have the LP on and side A begins with I Got Mine (what a dittie) But looking at the song list on the back I Got Mine (seriously though, ripper) is third from last. I had it on on YouTube a while back and the songs were in a different order too so I'm wondering are there differing versions of the album? Or maybe my copy is a rare edition with the stickers put on the wrong side? Or maybe my dementia is just becoming more advanced.

I've never heard of a version with 'I Got Mine' as the opening track to be honest.

It looks like a Mercury edition, made in the USA in 83. But there are anomalies...

The track list seems completely confused compared with any editions I can see on Metal Archives...

A
I Got Mine
One Track Mind
Rock It
Marching Off to War
Tales of Glory

B
Back At the Funny Farm
Dancing On Your Grave
Shine
Another Perfect Day
Die You Bastard

The run out Matrix matches except for a letter at the end that is C instead of R so I'm wondering if it's a reissue that wasn't added to the archive. It looks completely legit otherwise. But yeah, the running order of the songs is completely jumbled compared to any editions I've looked at.

The stickers on the record have the tracks in matching order with how they are on this version too.

Motörhead- Orgasmatron.

Underrated line-up/era. That album and the new tracks on 'No Remorse' were fucking brilliant. A lot of people - Including the band - don't like the mix, but I think it's great.

Yeah, that seems most likely.

It is weirdly jarring when you are so used to one version, only to pick up a reissue or something and it is an entirely different track-list.

My aul lad had what turned out to be a Swedish version of Cream's 'Fresh Cream' (although all of the liner notes are in English) and it was one of my favourite albums as a kid, I played it to death.

It was only when I got the CD reissue years later that I realised the album I grew up listening to wasn't the same as "normal". Although the reissue actually had a different opening track to the other versions too. But it's still really weird to hear 'I Feel Free' as the opening track, and no 'Wrapping Paper' or 'The Coffee Song', which was a track the band didn't want released at all apparently. Although I think it's one of their better songs.

It's not as annoying as the Maiden 'Killers' cd reissue from 98 with 'Twilight Zone'. Not that I dislike the song, I actually love it, but it should have been a bonus track, not just randomly dropped in the tracklist.

Same as 'Total Eclipse' in the NOTB reissue. Again, great tune, but it ruins the flow of the album for me.

I think an album should be ideally left alone. Running order is decided by the band to create a particular flow and, apart from maybe having to swap a couple of songs to allow for vinyl running times (although maybe that should be factored in from the start), the running order should be set in stone. Adding in extra tracks is a strange one as well. If it's there it should be at the end but even then, it should be on a separate CD.

Np.
Metallica- Kill 'Em All.

Like 'Aggressive Perfector' and 'Criminally Insane' on the Reign In Blood reissue. That album is so iconic it feels like the bonus tunes should definitely go on a separate cd. Which is wasteful I suppose. But when you are so used to perfection, it feels weird to add anything. I know that's what the stop button is for (and again, the bonus tracks themselves are great) but still.

God be with the days when the full album was on both sides of the cassette version. Stick it in the walkman or stereo, go mental for 28 minutes and 55 seconds playing air guitar and drums, and then flip the tape and go again.

Yeah big time. Reign in Blood is a great example. I've never heard an edition with bonus tracks, but part of the beauty of RiB is how lean it is. Evil and sharp, like a spear going through your brain! Bonus tracks could only ever take away from that experience.

The Hand of Doom- Poisonoise.

I've had this for years and have always loved the song,  The Hand of Doom. The rear of it didn't grab me for some reason. Maybe it was a bit too rock n roll and not metal egg to my ear or something. Enjoying it more this time around so I'll leave it in the car and see how much mileage I get out of it. Another potential win for heavy metal hoarding  8)

It was the Japanese markets that started the bonus track craze.

It's such a pain in the balls.
I tend to use shuffle all on Apple music and there's nothing worse with useless alternate drum takes/demos (Death albums being the biggest offender), breaking up a decent set of songs.
