Nothing new under the sun here. Just ripping, grade A black metal .

Fuck this album rules, been listening to it all week. I remember seeing this album all the time about 10 years ago when Nuclear Winter recs reissued it but was always put off by the artwork they had on the release. The original art is far superior but only released on cd so probably couldn't blow it up to LP size? But anyway,  I just never really looked into them, too much stuff coming out at the time and they just fell from memory and I don't ever hear them mentioned, sick now I've been missing out on this all this time. Twisted Grinding black/death perfection.

* Pain Amplifier
Bought recently Vic Records re-issue, with original cover art. Nice stuff definitely, had it on tape back in the day. There is a guy from Belial (guitar) in their ranks. Need to buy their demo as well, NWR re-issued it in 2022 on all formats.

Dismember - Massive Killing Capacity

Extreme - Pornograffiti

...and Disillusion 'Back to Times of Splendor'. This is fucking class

Have oddly felt compelled to listen to Burn My Eyes again this week. It still sounds class and was definitely one of the forerunners of metal albums having a huge production. Shame they then followed it up with the wet fart that is The More Things Change

Listened to that Mythos album there yesterday, sounded good but I was focused on something else. Going to give another spin now.

Zoetrope : Life Of Crime (1987)

Chicago thrash band, opened for some 'Big Four' groups back in the day. Good album.

Good album though they're probably better known for giving Barry Stern and Louis Svitek to the world.

On a Watchtower buzz today, Energetic Disassembly on repeat.

Deathrow - Riders of Doom
Summoning - Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame
Judas Iscariot - Heaven in Flames
Gamma Ray - Heading for Tomorrow

Taint - All Bees to the Sea

Great suff

Samael - Passage 9/10
Pioneering venture which pissed off as many as it pleased in BM circles

Svartkonst -Devil's Blood 9/10
Hidden gem from this multi talented Swedish BM artist

Love/Hate - Blackout In The Red Room 8.5/10
Fun fact: Jizzy Pearl once 'crucified' himself on the Hollywood sign and had to be assisted down by the cops. Sleaze rock doesn't get much more sleazy than this 1990 debut..

Nazareth - Hair Of The Dog 8.5/10
...nor classic rock much more classic than this.

Jag Panzer  - Chain Of Command 8/10
Could have done with a bit more oomph in the production but this is a stellar offering full of songs that will stick in your head for days

Ancient Rites - Dim Carcosa 8/10
Good memories of these veterans in Eamon Dorans back in the day, Love the keyboard and orchestral flourishes on this effort.

Asphyx - God Cries 7/10
The black sheep of their catalogue, plays like a more aggressive Gorefest to my ears

Anaal Nathrakh - Desideratum 7/10
The dreaded 'more mature' album still hits hard

Death Angel - Fall From Grace 6.5/10
Live tracks from their first two suffers from a slightly muffled sound

Destruction - Metal Discharge 6/10
One of many decent but ultimately interchangeable Destruction albums from their mid period.

Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

Rush - Signals
Harp - Albion (Tim formerly of Midlake and far more interesting than their latest)
Ulver - Perdition City. Top tenner of all time for me probably
Mythos - Pain Amplifier. This is a ripper, fair play to whoever recommend these lads, never heard of them  :abbath:

Really enjoying the Harp album, it was after reading a recent review and similarities with The Cure 'Faith' that drew me in.

Was that the gig they did with Waylander but the bass amp blew after a couple of songs?
