Quote from: Polaris on January 16, 2025, 08:52:53 PMShit news about David Lynch. Truly one of a kind and left a solid body of work including paintings and albums. I do hope his death is unconnected with the LA fires. Haven't spotted any commentary about that.
nah, he had shit lungs from years of smoking. That did him in. I'm a huge fan of his work like a lot on here I'm sure. He was something else, Mulholland Drive is my favorite of his. Really, only Dune is the only movie that isn't brilliant he made. Some body of work!

And even Dune is, in fact, brilliant  The sense of what it would have been had he had full creative control and means shines through strong enough imo

Will be revisiting the ones I haven't seen in the longest amount of time: Wild at Heart and Lost Highway first up on that list.

The Elephant Man, Dune and The Straight Story are the ones of his that I liked, maybe Wild At Heart too, can't stand anything else he's done. Still, he did his own thing and to hell with what anyone thought, which was to be admired, so it's a sad loss.

We nicked a still from the Elephant Man for the front of the Drainland lp, that's how big a deal he was to me

I vividly remember watching Fire Walk with Me on a shitty little tv with my younger brother some time in the mid 90's. We had never seen Twin Peaks, but we were both completely mesmerised by the strangeness unfolding on the screen. There was a storm raging outside which further enhanced the weird, slightly terrifying atmosphere.

The missus has never seen Twin Peaks so we're going to start that tonight.

Just seen John Sykes has died, just 65.

Class guitarist, might lash on Thunder and Lightning.

Cuntish enough. Amazing playing across Lizzy, Whitesnake and Tygers of Pan Tang.

The man who helped Lizzy bow out on one of the highest points, and definitely the most metal point, of their career. Hailz!  :abbath:

And most of the 80s shredders ripped him off too! Absolutely killer player.

Aww that's a shitter, top player. Will bang on T&L in the morning :abbath:

Shit! Just read about this a while ago.

Bit of White snake and T&L on the cards for today...

Still of the Night has to be my favourite hair metal/cock-rock track of all time  :abbath:

Had Blue Murder in this morning! Total 80s action choons!

Garth Hudson. Last surviving member of The Band.
