He was a bargain basement Marilyn Manson.

I thought he was already dead, he'd done absolutely nothing for 20 odd years

Enjoyed the first two Amen albums, and the gig they played in the Music Centre around that time was supposed to have been incredible, always regretted missing that

Yeah it was, they rocked that night no question. Posted about them not too long ago, dug out the albums having not listened to them in aeons

That was indeed a good gig at the TBMC. Himself and the drummer (Shannon Larkin from Ugly Kid Joe?) were knocking around before the show. I have a pic with them somewhere. He complimented my black seeds of vengeance hoodie so he was sound in my book. At the same show, the lad doing merch swapped me one of each of the Amen merch for the Haunted shirt I was wearing. Still have that gear somewhere (I never could bring myself to wear a shirt with Hitler's face on the statue of liberty mind you). I liked those 2 Amen albums back in the day and then he disappeared until Scum, and then nothing after that.

In light of some of the other musical atrocities committed during the nu-metal era, I'd be more charitably inclined towards Amen these days. It appeared on the surface that they had the typical trappings of that era...produced by Ross Robinson, feted by Metal Hammer etc., but to be fair the music wasn't that clumsy, half assed rap-rock hybrid that other bands were peddling at the time. That said, there was something quite insincere about them...that Chaos lad seemed to be all over the more extreme side of metal, maybe he knew that nu-metal was about to run it's course or maybe that's just me being cynical.
