Ya, he seemed to leave the heavy lifting to the touring keyboardist.

I can't stand Depeche Mode. Utter scatter.

No way, I was sure you loved them

Being fair about it, when I was listening to them today it crossed my mind how little he had to do with writing any of those songs

It was pretty much all Martin Gore. Dave Gahan didn't do a whole lot apart from being a cool as fuck front man.

Yea, fairly well documented that Martin Gore writes 99% of all the music. So much so that Dave Gahan began a solo career so he could write material.  They collaborated more so on the last few albums. Hopefully this isn't the end of the band. Fletcher was pretty much the manager of the band and kept things together.

Yeah gore conceded a bit of songwriting to gahan on the last few and they stink. I think Alan wilder was an awful loss for them. He was responsible for a lot of the sounds up until ultra and he's conspicuous by his absence

I still think this thread should be for metal related deaths and all the other scutter should go over to the General Discussion page...

Anyhooley, I thought this photo of Andy Fletcher in the Hill 16 pub in 1983 is great, representing old Ireland meeting modern pop music.

Or maybe it was just an early PJ Gallagher skit as the Dirty Aul Wan for The Fear?

Not metal but Denis Cahill passed away there. Very sad, some partnership he has with Hayes.

Ah balls. Brilliant player alright.

Their Live is Seattle is a great set.

Andy LaBarre (ex Impaled and Ghoul)
ALS.   He was only 43!

RIP. 43 is no age. How did he die?

ALS, or Motor neuron disease.  Horrible way to go
