I got a decent haul in the end this year despite not having the time to get out picking much at all. Life would do that with work and family and whatnot. Could see myself going down the kit road in time but it's the picking that's as much of a buzz as anything. Think I'll miss that as much as the trip itself if it comes to it

Got about 200 or so there over the last few days. They're back :abbath:

I have a fairly long post about the direction this wonderful pursuit has taken around here that has annoyed me a lot but I've a few things to do. Still great to see them back but I'll have to change tack somewhat

Right so, I showed a couple of lads the good spot a year or 2 ago just showing the joy of the wonderful gift of nature like any good mushroom take should. Well the lads I showed have now taken other lads to the spot and instead of picking them and having them, they've taken to making a product of them, picking them by the thousands and not taking them but rather selling them in honey by the gram and I just think the good has so much gone from it now that I want to find a new spot entirely and just tell nobody and give away the spares but the cunts I told about the good word are actually camping on the sites and going out from morning until night making sure nobody else will have a chance to participate before they have them all picked for sale.

That is not the way these things are supposed to be done and I hope every one of the greedy cunts has a 5 hour panic attack every time they ever have them again.

I'm so annoyed that I won't even go back to the best field because I don't want to meet those cunts and have them think I'm anything like them.

I'll still look for some but fuck the modern mentality with the shit sesh gremlin mentality I want to burn them all for their horrible selfishness.

I would only ever share nature's gift for free as nature had shared that gift with me

That's capitalists for ya

 :abbath:

That's cuntish man. Pack of pricks.
Ya broke the cardinal rule though - never show anyone your spot.
By all means share the spoils but keep your spot to yourself.
Lesson learned.

Aye, lesson learned fucking raging and it's the best field I've ever seen as well

Camping on sites and picking everything to sell for profit, while leaving nothing for anybody else is a proper fucking buzzkill  :'(
I feel like that kind of behaviour would be very frowned upon by the mushroom picking community at large. Fuck them.

If they wanna make their own product, cool, but there are other ways to do that, like making their own kits and growing indoors, instead of completely raking a field that they didn't even find.
That field was shown to them, so they already know that people pick there, and have been picking there before them. Disrespectful is what that is.

Yep I don't believe the things should be sold like that at all it just goes against everything I ever thought about the whole thing at all. They are supposed to be a gift from nature. Like you say, fair enough if it's kits or whatever but not the liberty caps. That's the thing with these modern sesh gremlin type young lads, they're just soulless little cunts

I wouldn't have an issue if they were using libs from their own private land, as it's their land and they can do what they like with it really. I've no issue with them wanting to make a few quid by providing a product for people who maybe aren't able to go out and get their own.

But taking so much from the land in order to maximise their profits and leaving nothing... nah that's just greed. Shite craic.

I honestly have the whole gift of nature thing going on with it where no matter how many I'd have I'd either give them away or at the absolute meanest barter them for a bit of smoke with a mate. I just don't believe in commercialising them in any way shape or form and I'd be way less annoyed if the fuckers were taking them than selling them. Fair enough about the own land bit though: people can do what they like in that regard they might not even be taking them and why not etc but I'm a staunch socialist when it comes to the liberty caps.

Lads how do you store the Mushrooms after you bring them home? Went out for the first time ever today and I think we got a few. Not many but if they are magics at least I know where to go next time. Also is this month it and then after October they won't be around again until next September?

I dry them out on sheets of paper left under the bed and I store them by wrapping them in both brown paper and greaseproof paper in a dark spot of the shed. They've lasted me well over a year like this without going off.

They'll grow until the first hard frost into the ground, ie if it's only on the grass that's grand. I've picked them up until new year's eve which was the longest they've been out as long as I've been picking them

Edit: if you want to dm me a pic, I'll tell you if they're grand or not if you're feeling doubtful at all

I dry them out on non-stick baking paper. I used to use newspaper, but the caps would stick to it, so it's baking paper all the way for me.

For storage, I use either glass jars or tupperware containers with a few wee packets of silica gel in there. Lasted me years.
