It already happened so I put on Pat Kenny.
Never heard it. Is that from their new album?

Not a fan of 'Love Cats' either, seems out of place in their catalogue (to me), hate it. Give me 'Friday I'm in Love' anyday over that. Personally I go between 'Pornography' (very grim in places), 'Bloodflowers' and 'Disintegration'. The latter I don't need to hear ever again as it's overplayed. Need to investigate other albums though, may get that 'Staring at the Sea' comp.

Ya, it's drearier and more depressing than Love Cats.

Sounds like a Suicidal Depressive BM tune....  :abbath:

Love Cats is great. That's something I love about them - for all of their morose, depressing buzz, they have a Love Cats or Just Like Heaven to offset it.

I don't mind Just Like Heaven or even Friday I'm in Love, but fuckin Love Cats. Irredeemable.

I'd say it was one their quintessential songs, whereas Friday... is utterly disposable pap.

Only heard Pornography and Disintegration, I've always liked them but just never ventured further into their catalogue for some reason

I've always had a soft spot for Love Cats though, one of those songs someone would always put on in the wee hours at a house session, good times

I can't stand Friday.. but I've heard enough other tunes that were decent enough to want to go further. Sticking on that comp once I've the dinner out of the way

I think it's the first Cure song I heard TBH, maybe that's why it's a favourite of mine. Someone had Japanese Whispers on the bus for a school tour back in the day and it was played on a loop all day. That compilation is another good one, actually.

The deluxe edition of Faith just landed so that'll be getting a spin later.

Thought the gig was incredible.

Pornography is my pick of the bunch followed closely by Disintegration, Faith and Seventeen Seconds.

Odd one in that the 'best of' doesn't really represent them at all to my ears. Don't mind any of the pop tunes on their own but they kill an album. Also strange.

Ah great band. I enjoyed the gig last year.

Bit off topic but the Best Of for most bands seems like it was picked by someone who has only read about them.

I had this on earlier and it was great

Watched (a shortened version of) the 2018 Hyde Park show last night, decent stuff. I still think the 2019 Glastonbury show was the best I've seen from them, up there with In Orange.

Incidentally, I've recently bought the deluxe versions they've put out over the years, so I have remastered single disc CD versions of Seventeen Seconds, Faith and The Head On The Door going spare if anyone wants them.
