That's pretty cool. I'd never heard it before.

Got The Top in the post yesterday. Only had the chance for the one listen, but it's certainly a different experience to the  stuff I've heard up to now. It's not very immediate anyway but that in itself is no bad thing. Looking forward to giving it a proper go this evening with a few cans

Was at this gig. And I like the cure. And I found it the most boring self indulgent pile of shit I've seen in quite a while. Couldn't wait for it to end. And before i get attacked I know I'm probably wrong.

Shake Dog Shake and Give Me It are still in their set, I think. Great album, kinda psychedelic really.

Heard a few people say the same. They were wrong as well so there is that.

Got Join The Dots in the post today, a 4-disc B-sides & rarities compilation from '79 to '01. Hit & miss, as all such collections are but worth a listen at the very least.

Got stuck into The Top last night. Listened to it twice in a row and it went down a treat. For bonus points the wife liked it as well instead of asking me to turn it down or put on something else for a change. Not that she ever gets the requests granted or anything..

Pretty much solidly hopping off these lads the last few weeks. So many times where I'm noticing the apparent influence on bands I've listened to for years. Trent Reznor certainly has a few of the albums in his collection.

The level of quality is very high and although some of the poppier numbers can be a bit jarring at first, they are grand in the run of the albums

Still have a massive soft spot for Faith. It's probably the de facto gloomiest fucking album ever, even within that 80s goth/dark wave pantheon. It's all the more atmospheric for it, though.

Certain albums from that era really quite viscerally put me in that frigid, beer until dawn and bacon sandwich in the morning, dreary English setting they were recorded in. It's honestly completely overpowering on albums like Faith. It's just magnificent.

They have a lot of shite albums, but as opposed to a band like Pink Floyd, at least their shite albums are often fun and are over in no time at all.

Plainsong is probably the best intro song ever.

There's 2 tracks in the middle of Faith that are up there with the most miserable things I've ever heard. Then there's the complete contrast of an album like Kiss Me... and I think that stuff is great too, even if he does sound like Zed from police academy at times

Just announced that they're playing the 3 Arena on the 1st of December next year, tickets on sale Friday morning. Might try and grab a couple.

Edit: Playing Belfast (SSE Arena) on the 2nd.

Nice.
Defo grabing some tix for it this time.

Malahide gig was great so this should be even better. A nice seat and some psychedelics would be lovely.

Standing ticket sorted, €82 and change all told (€75 + fees). Only a year to go now, if we're not all hiding underground by then...
