There are supporters' clubs all over this island, including in Dublin.

Anyhow, NME seem to have given Ohms a glowing review. Be interesting to hear what Dom Lawson thinks; always really liked his style of commentary in Metal Hammer.

Still not convinced by those 2 new songs...reckon the album will be better than Gore but that should be an easy enough feat..

The album is floating around the web since this morning. About to have a listen now. Yeah it won't take much to top Gore with its' 3 good songs

Well I listened to it all. It's.... ok I suppose. Bit of a Gore part 2 with some of the previous 2 albums sprinkled in. No surprises whatsoever anywhere on it.

Tried it again there this evening and it is definitely better than Gore but around the same as the 2 previous as in it goes in the good but not spectacular camp. It isn't up to the quality of the self-titled but if it's held up to Diamond Eyes and Koi No Yokan it's the same level stuff

Listening to 'Ohms' a bit more now, great to have more Deftones music but this seems more on the shoegaze tip. Want those brutal sounding riffs but alas. Anyhow, let's see if it'll grow on me. 'Diamond Eyes' had the melancholy but also that ripping production when the riffs come in, this ..not so much, it's a bit 'lite'. First impressions.

Enjoying it a lot more than the last two. I like that shoegazey side more tho...I think the balance is perfect between that and the heavier bits. The run from"Urantia" to "Pompeij" is my favourite currently .

Considerably better than "Gore". The production is quite light though.

This is my line of thinking too so far after a few listens, I'd personally extend that run to "This Link Is Dead". Still think the two singles are not up to much..but the last song Ohms fits more into the album context but it doesn't start or end strong. Overall there isn't actually much on the guitar side in terms of memorable riffs, just more of an extension built into the shoegazey/expansive sound. Much much better than Gore.

I feel like putting it on again which is a good sign. There are a few token riffs in there but it certainly isn't the main takeaway from the album. It's very Chino is my early impression

Big Deftones fan here, and have listened to this a couple of times now...

New album is good, but no where near their best.
For me its missing that perfect mix of melancholy and crushing aggression mated to grande soundscapes, and yes there are some elements of it here and there.
Diamond Eyes and KNY are up there among their best, but this is lacking, and not as good as Gore IMO.

And as said above, the production is very disappointing. The drums sound weak and i'm not a fan of the guitar tone, which is a far cry when compared to Diamond Eyes.

There are some strange chord arrangements and progressions also which dont sound very Deftones'y to me lol, such as the into to Urantia and Radiant City, and the outro to Error

Highlights on it for me are Genesis, Ceremony, The Spell of Mathematics, Headless and Ohms

Could be more of a grower in time (snigger), but those are my initial impressions

:D

I'm liking it more each time I hear it. It takes a few goes to get into it for sure though. Current opinion is that it sound somewhere in between Deftones type 1 and 2 so a nice happy medium for me being more of a first era fan

Going back repeatedly over the last week, and  enjoying it a whole lot more than anything they've done since "Saturday Night Wrist" to be honest. It's a great album. It's direct, it's catchy and while it has absolutely no surprises or anything new, it just feels like like they've focused in on writing really good songs. Riddled with hooks it is. I find If i put it on I'l l generally play it twice in a row. Wasn't mad about the title track but it's grown on me - that opening riff is 100% Torche

Listening back to "Gore" currently. It really is a piss poor effort compared to the rest of their discography

I'm the same. Going back to it about twice a day and really getting more and more into it. I don't think there is a bad track on it. Even the singles which I thought were boring in the first place are as good as any of it.
