White Pony has to be one of the most overrated piles of shite I've ever heard. I loved Adrenaline at the time. I found Around the Fur disappointing and kind of bland, with some catchy parts and anything else I listened to by them was bland. The Coldplay of metal sounds about right to me.

All that said, I listened to Smile today and thought it was cool, despite being a bit long and samey by the end. The new song was grand. Dunno if I'd last a full album of any of that stuff, though.

Jaysus, White Pony is a modern classic. Their four best songs are all in a row on it too.

Adrenaline is the sound of a band finding their feet - not bad but ultimately pretty amateurish.

Adrenaline is good but ya, a band finding their feet. I loved AtF, still think it's great but I don't throw it on much. It seems I'm still probably in the minority in that I'm not a huge White Pony fan. I think this was them again finding their feet going down a more experimental route. I think Koi No Yokan is their best album.

Koi No Yokan would be my second favourite after WP, great album.

I'm a casual enough Deftones fan but Diamond Eyes and Koi No Yokan are the ones I've listened to most too.

Yeah, I found White Pony as dull as dishwater, and everything I've heard since has been a turgid copy of the same.

Self-Titled is their best. Didn't know there was a new song must get a listen

Edit: Listened to it there and first impression was I liked it. Great to have a new album coming from these lads, although Gore didn't hold up too well for me despite my thinking it was brilliant at first.

I love the self titled,  Saturday night wrist and Diamond Eyes.  The last 2 haven't been that great. White pony is a bit mediocre.

White Pony is great, my favourite by them, I love the majority of their stuff and rate them highly as a band, but yeah I can see why lads don't like WP.  I don't agree mind, but it's definitely polarising, something I didn't really cop to for a long time - I'd assumed it was just generally accepted by all Deftones fans to rank highly at least.

Yeah I'm surprised by the negative opinion for WP.

My four favourite songs by then are all on it (specifically the last four on it).

Last song on it is brilliant. Pink Maggit I mean. I have the red version with The Boys Republic on it for a finish. That's another decent tune while we're here

Have the newest track, Genesis, on here.

Very Koi No Yokan sounding stuff. Nothing too amazing or breaking new ground for them, but not too shabby either. I take it as a good sign and I hope the album is a slow grower like the self titled and Saturday Night Wrist.

Saw them in 2011 at the tail end of the Diamond Eyes cycle. Discovered them via that album and I never tired of it. White Pony, for me, didn't measure up to the clattering changes and lush vistas on Diamond Eyes. Looking forward to what they come up with post-Gore.
