I see HMV are making a comeback...

New hmv store opening in Cork 'just in time for Christmas' - Cork Beo https://share.google/LErNOYk2euvXpGbyn

I guess this will be business as usual, just more vinyl, less cds and the usual Funko Pop garbage, merch etc.

They still have one in Belfast that's three floors. When I was last there the entire middle floor was dedicated to vinyl and some CDs. Was cool to be back and relive the teenage years a little by buying a couple.

I imagine that it'll be the same as the Golden Discs up the road... where HMV used to be.

A record shop for people that don't like music.

Think the only issue with Golden Discs/HMV is they lease some units with insane rents and the cost of that gets added to the vinyl.

The funkos etc get cash in the til as there's good margins, plus when GameStop left Ireland the needed new retail partners as they had arguably the biggest share of the Funko sales for bricks and mortar.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK

FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK!!!!!

I'm sure it'll be fine. Somehow.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK NO IT WON'T!!!!!

That kind of deadline rush.

Listening to the pre match "entertainment" for this MLS game makes me nostalgic for the days of Tom Britton reading out the players names at Gortakeegan, as if he was reading the death notices.

Audio descriptions on Netflix: "sweeping epic music", "intense industrial music". Not much good if you're deaf, and stating the bleedin' obvious if you can hear.

Random thoughts for today...

Getting onto a static travelator is very jarring. Was on one today, you're expecting the thing to move forward and the fact that it doesn't seems to throw your spatial awareness into compete chaos. I was like Bambi taking his first steps.

Amazon.ie is a waste of money. My missus and I share the same account and for some reason, she tends to order off the Irish account. I went onto it today to order a USB-C to HDMI adaptor. It was priced at €28 including delivery, which struck me as a bit excessive. Switched the account back to UK and the same adaptor, exact same brand and spec, came in at about €10 including delivery (which i think is free because we've signed up to Prime...for some reason, when you switch over to the Irish Amazon the Prime doesn't come over, and it prompts you to avail of a free Prime trial). Am I missing something here? There doesn't really seem to be any advantage to availing of the Irish version.

I gave it a browse when it came online, most of my wishlist wasn't on it and anything that was was more expensive and had longer delivery times. Waste of time.

Subscriptions/gift cards etc can't be transferred due to tax I think. .ie is a mess of a yoke.

Just thinking about simulation theory and then what's the reality of the creators of the simulation and they might be in one and just yeah. Something came up on the phone that said some lads had mathematically proven that it's not possible the simulation thing and I'm not saying it is or it isn't but that got me thinking about what sort of things I do be reading

Two brothers in their 80s run my local, they won't let you walk home if the weather's poor, or in general if the place isn't busy. Pissing down tonight and one of the lads brought me to my front door. Where would you get it? As much as I give out about small town life, it's fucking great at the end of it all.
