I used to work in a bar with a lad who would take speed to "get him through the night's work" - normally a 6 hour stint...

He would offer it around to everyone else on the shift.

"Bitta speed, there, lah - if you want it. Nah? OK. Here, what about you? Bitta speed, there lah... if you want it. Nah? OK... How about you?"

I would shake my head and refuse his generous offer, then reach for my coffee. Or, as I like to call it, "the poor man's speed".

He was about 15 years older than everyone that worked in the pub.

The same fella would do rails of cocaine over post-work/after clean-up pints. At first surreptitiously but after the first 2 pints (and visits to the jacks) he would just start banging it up his nose in front of us until we were all tired of his stories about being lethal at Shotokan karate/street-chop motorcycles/other shit that never seemed to have a conclusion.

Fucking awful drug. Next day is torture. Thankfully I did it a few times many years ago ago and decided it wasn't for me. Being around people who are on it when you're not is painful.

Not a fan, but have to say I've always found coke to be one of the "cleanest" come-down drugs. Speed, pills, even good quality molly can throw you a deeply unpleasant day or two after, but never once found that with coke. Most stuff you can get "at our level" has been danced all over though, so you never know what's giving you gyp the next day.

Speed is the worst thing I've ever taken, like coke it makes me talk (more) shite but has a dirty edge to it that has led to me throwing hands once or twice. Never again. But sure I don't touch anything stronger than pints these days anyway.

Ya, same as that. Drink has, by far, the worst after effects. I've taken coke sober countless times and have had no comedown or afters.

Speed is generally an anxiety hangover. Pills and MD give me zaps for days after. Presumably from doing the dog on both when I was younger.

If you get clean mdma and don't overdo it I find it's the least worst of the lot.

I had to give it up. Between medication I'm on and being 40 I couldn't handle the soul destroying mornings after anymore.
