Hey shepherd, what's the craic like where you are, has the place gone nuts? You'd never know these days.

That video really reminds me of the this is fine meme

Well, the entrance to city hall in Bordeaux got set alight there on Thursday evening, so there was that. And I haven't had to teach classes for the last two weeks because the students have blockaded the university, but I have had to babysit at home a few days when the wee lad's teachers were on strike. So, overall, life as usual in France! Would absolutely love to see Macron forced to back down over his reform though; he remains as absolutely unbearable as ever. Bring back Sarko, all is forgiven!

Have to hand it to the French really when it comes to the government going against them. Haven't been following it closely really only the odd bit on Twitter, but would you reckon Macron will stick this one out?

Just popping in to say that The Journal has to be up there with the worst propaganda outlets anywhere.

Does anyone here read it, and why would anyone read something that's obvious biased lies after that has been made clear? Fair enough to not know, but once you do know you're basically reading something as bad as tucker Carlson or breitbart or whatever, just from the other side.

Didn't put this in the pc thread because it's more a general thing as to why people purposely read things from outlets that are proven liars in order to back up their own worldview instead of simply not reading that outlet or reporter ever again. Vote with the feet and maybe one of them will start telling the truth. And I'm not saying I haven't been caught either, I've been done a few times but then I stop looking at them. I wonder though do these publications put out stuff that's obvious crap just to get people to click into it in their outrage or are they seriously trying to influence folk by lying to them? Both are bad anyway

As an aside, I have noticed that all the main papers here have significantly dropped the prices of their online subs. I wonder why..

It's a business, and you've nailed it - people will read stuff for confirmation bias and every man jack of us is guilty of it.

Tucker Carlson is a comedian though, I'm certain I'm not the only one who watches it for his quips or deliberate mispronunciation of Don Lemon, Karine Jean-Pierre etc :)

If time travel existed, wouldn't we have had people going back to Long Beach in 1984, just to yell Motherfucker at the end of Revelations, right? But there's only the one guy does it...

Dunno where else to put this, but I read that Blaze Bayley is in hospital after having a heart attack yesterday. Fingers crossed he'll be alright, he seems like a nice enough chap.

The amount of human shells, broken souls and walking dead due to heroin (and other) addiction around Cork City is really something at the minute.

Day and night you can see these skeletal zombies in the city centre. Only seems to be getting worse.

Meth is huge at the minute and from talking to a few people it is gaining rapidly on, and even replacing in some cases, heroin addiction.

Had to deal with a lot of heroin addicts in my last job and towards the end there in the last few months they got very patchy in turning up for the methadone. Now to be fair they only used it to keep themselves going until the evening for the real gear but word around the campfire now is that they've moved on to the crack instead and they really fucking look like it too.

I'm pretty liberal with my views on drugs in general but the gear is some awful awful plague and if what I'm hearing is true, what's coming next is going to be somewhat worse

It's ridiculous these days. Should be treated as a public health emergency and funded accordingly.

Yep that's fair I'd agree with that

It was the crack I meant actually, that's the second time I made that mistake talking about it recently lol.

Yeah but it's no craic

Well I won't be placing any orders with ochoill anyway!

 it's the excitement of the lottery, you never know what you could be getting!

A little aside (maybe for another thread and there is a much longer story surrounding it all) but some lads I know, many years back now, had a huge ziplock bag duct-taped over filled with miscellaneous unbranded chemicals - Big mix of any sort of buzz, all tablets unmarked and misshapen but they had a range of about 20-30 things they could be, mostly antidepressants.  They would just take a handful of whatever was in there each night they were out to see what would happen, with incredibly bad and mixed results lol
