Thundercat - The Beyond/Where The Giants Roam

Tis only an EP, but fuck me, what a listen.

Kinda fusion/jazz, soulful vocals, and the dirtiest sounding bass guitar this side of Bootsy Collins.

The chap came to my attention as he played bass on Kendrick Lamar's "To Pimp A Butterfly", but if I was paying attention I might have realised he played in Suicidal Tendencies for almost a decade

"Them Changes"

Holy shit!I love Thundercat's music but  know little about him so the ST connection is blowing my mind.

Yeah, he and his brother were the rhythm section when they played TBMC around 15 years ago. I have Drunk but just couldn't get into it, his music doesn't do it for me.

Don't know why I haven't listened to them that much in the past but I went on a Tera Melos binge while away this past weekend. Fuck me, what a band. I'd recommend "X'd Out" as the album to start with (the most recent one "Trash Generator" is unreal also)

You might enjoy White Denim, their album Fits is class

Someone recommended these lads in the old thread.
Morphine - Cure For Pain. Bluesy rock played on 2 string bass, sax and drums. Captivating.

One of the greatest albums ever..I adore this band

Remember talking to him after that gig and was shocked to find out he was only 17, think he was still with them for the Academy gig a few years ago too?

He's a wonderful musician but other than a few bits here and there his stuff isn't for me either

Some Buckethead is usually a very pleasant listening experience..his countless albums often follow the same formula but it works for me

Was obsessed with this album, for a whole year I could hardly listen to anything else..The Gun Club: Miami. For fans of The Stooges, Blondie, Nick Cave, Misfits..punky, Johnny Cash singing stuff..love it.

I think it was Michael Morgan in the Academy

If you're into the likes of Emma Ruth Rundle or Chelsea Wolfe you'd do well to check this lady's work out. She's been at it for years and she's amazing. Her last album" Division" is incredible as well

Resurrecting this cos it's Red House Painters time of year. "Rollercoaster" (aka "Red House Painters 1") is an absolute desert island disc

Went to see him back in January, great gig.

A fist fight broke out right in front of me, slightly bizarre to see in such a seemingly peaceful setting.

In a similar chilled vein, I love this. Some voice, when she really belts it out around 2:05 it's deadly.
