There we go lads; rock bottom discussion level for a metal forum  :abbath:

There is still one last chance for Busted vs McFly before the earth implodes, surely?

My wife used to have one of the later, not so popular Oasis albums back in the day and played the shit out of it . Despite my not liking Oasis in the slightest, it wasn't too bad at all.

Saying all that I'd never put them on of my own volition.

Dead Can Dance

The Serpents Egg (1988, I think)

Description? Hmmm. World/Darkwave??

I think DCD are pretty well known amongst the metal scene. Certainly the black metal scene anyway. I suppose there is some sort of spiritual yearning in common. They've become a major part of my listening this last decade. There are metal albums I loved from ten years ago when I started to get into DCD that I just have moved on from, no longer connect to. But Dead Can Dance persists and is on permanent rotation.

My favourite band, I've loved them since first I heard them (I think Paul Kearns turned me on to them back in the day). See them live if you get a chance, they're unreal.

Absolutely no fucking way-could never understand how anyone could ever think that. Oasis have more good albums than blur have songs!!

Would agree.

The Stone Roses trumps all though. One of the greatest bands in the history of music.

My brother is mad into the Gaelgóir rap band from Belfast(I think) called Kneecap. Good oul listen. This

Speaking of Dead Can Dance, I see they've announced 2 dates in April for the Olympia. I wonder if the 2 dates mean that they're anticipating reduced capacity, social distancing etc.? I can't see gigs going ahead that soon without some such measures taken.

Heard a good bit of these lads before and thought it was pretty deadly.

They flow really well as Gaeilge, sounds natural as fuck

Heard so much shite done in Irish over the years, great when something interesting rears its head.

DCD tour dates announced today including 2 Dublin dates.

The point of off topic, Chris. I preferred Blur as a young fella but find a lot of their stuff nearly unlistenable now.

Only a bit of banter, my wicket-worrying chum! Here's an even funnier perspective on it; Definitely, Maybe was released 26 years ago, meaning that it's as old now as Physical Graffiti was when MI first got going in 2001!

I just hate Liam's voice. Always preferred, liked even, the songs where Noel sings instead, so I think I always would have chosen Blur above Oasis simply because they at least had lots of variety. Never owned an album by either though; they couldn't really compare to what I was listening to when they came on the scene, and moreover, nobody interesting in school was into them!

An odd comparison but fair enough. I was 26 years younger than I am now and 7 years younger than I was when MI started when it came out.

Noel has a far more musical voice.

Had Parklife and The Great Escape as well as Definitely Maybe and What's the Story.. on tape. Took drumsticks to the latter two when I got into Nirvana. Ha. Prob still have the Blur tapes.

Listening to Killbox mixes on soundcloud. Very heavy drum n bass.

Saw em live in Cyprus Avenue last year - they were wild craic but it was a bit like being at an underage disco in fairness.

They're unreal, "The Host of Seraphim" is possibly my favourite piece of music.

I'd love to know what it is that there's such a crossover with metal fans and Dead Can Dance? Anyone I know that's into more than the metal "standards" are also into DCD. What is it that appeals about them as oppose to metal fans as opposed to say Chic, for example?
