Quote from: Giggles on September 02, 2026, 06:29:12 PMBut as an aside, are there any other Irish bands ye think would be suitable to headline Slane? And I'm not just talking Spotify numbers or GAA metrics here

I reckon if Kingfisher and Amble did a Co headline thing they probably could do Slane - now that really is awful shite though......

What the fuck is/are Kingfisher and Amble? It sounds like a hipster coffee shop.

Looks like they just announced a second date for this, must be selling well so far

Kingfishr. Like Grindr.

It would be hard to explain how bad it is but it's insanely popular with the young folk.

They are a trad folk combo who had a big hit with one song . I imagine they would be big with the agri crowd.

Are they an Irish Mumford & Sons? I've heard the name but that's it, never heard of Amble.

Even worse. Both sound like stuff you'd hesr on Mid West Radio. Scutter.

Maybe what they are missing is a tuneless monotone Dublin accent reciting bottom of the barrel beat poetry on top. No wait, I like Fontaines now... so yeah, all that, but without the snarky tone  8)

Have tickets for this  :-X  :-X

Will go with my mrs and a few regular football mates. I quite like a lot of their songs. Early album is very post punk sounding, grand. Some of the newer stuff is fairly cool, I think there's a bit of song writing talent there.

I wouldn't pass much heed on any interviews, accents or image. That shit would guaranteed piss me off so I just don't engage. They look like gimps for sure, but look it....

I'm not looking forward to going it. Too old and cranky for crowds of eejits on top of me. Especially if they are young and enjoying themselves. But for the sake of a gig with herself and a few other middle aged lads I'll put up with it. Haven't been to a metal gig in about a year either. Just nothing on I'm interested in sadly.

Yeah i dont look at interviews anymore either or all the other nonsense that goes with music. Not enough bandwidth.

For the uninitiated, Kingfishr and Amble are the soundtrack to Junior B victory homecomings.
Fontaines DC gigs are an opportunity for boggers to mingle with supporters of People Before Profit in a non-judgemental social setting. Metallers typically fall outside of either group, therefore this thread can now close.

Banhammer on this thread.
