At least some of SOADs lyrics are actually about something, i'll say that for them. Limp Bizkit are indefensibly bad.

I first encountered SOAD while playing a PS game, the name escapes me however Bruce Willis voiced the main character, I could be wrong, but during game play footage of Suit-Pee could be seen. I bought the album off the back of that, enjoyed it at the time.  Ex bought me Toxicity but I'd become bored of em' by that stage.

FNM when on form are in a completely different league.

Apocalypse, don't remember the music in it though. I do remember a low res bruce willis however.

I do remember that I was aghast that SOAD were above Slayer on that Ozzfest bill in 2002 in Punches town... but I guess promoters are onto what the younger crowd want, and have been for a while...

The System debut playing here now. I can definitely see why this resonated with me so much when I was sixteen. It's so energetic and somewhat karayzee, with mostly pretty dam good song writing. I think Serj is a highly talented singer but he overdoes it quite a bit at times Again, the whackiness was more palatable to me back then than it is these days, but as the tunes are so ingrained in my brain from back then, and suffused with nostalgia, I can tolerate it. I wonder if he'd reined in some of his more excessive impulse and kept things a little more straight forward would it have a), been as successful with da yoof back then, but b), been more respectable today.

A fun little ripper of an album, but I think one revisit will do for now.

Bungle were on that "Sno-Core" festival tour back in 2000 which was headlined by SOAD so in spite of Patton's apology for FNM being the primary influence on nu-metal, he was happy to do it then and it's obvious FNM have no issue with it at all now.  In fact, I'd argue tis a wise choice as Nu-Metal has been riding this wave of (retro/nostalgia) resurgance and now it's System's turn.  If Pantera can build awareness and sell some merch to new fans on the back of their touring with Metallica, then Faith No More must surely be thinking along the same lines.

Anyway I couldn't give a fuck who they support as I'll hopefully get to see them again, when I was 99.9% sure we'd all seen the last of 'em.

Think Bungle took the Sno core tour booking because of Kiedis getting them kicked from Big Day Out and Reading/Leeds.

That rings a bell alright re the Sno Core tour now that you say it.  Would have been shortly after the release of California too right?

Yeah it was the California tour, SOAD had just released their first, Incubus their second (?). 

The chili's had just shat out Californication so Kiedis (and Rick Rubin as they'd slagged him too) had a lot of influence at Warners. Killed the ad campaign for Bungle too.

Talking about whacky bands, I loved the first Incubus and the EP before it back in those days. They were unreal musicians. I revisited S.C.I.E.N.C.E. a few years ago and didn't get far through it, though. I'll just leave it alone and enjoy the memories
