Hey, do these merit their own new topic? On the strength of the music, not in the slightest. But I guess there's plenty curious enough to check them out (myself included), so with that in mind, here's two new singles

I wasn't actually aware until now that Guns had released material subsequent to Chinese Democracy. I'm going to assume they're every bit as bad as these. Something about that second song there puts me in mind of the opening credits of the Golden Girls.

Yeah they've been releasing tracks every now and again last couple of years, they're just CD leftovers with parts re-recorded by Slash and Duff.

I actually don't mind Chinese Democracy but none of the leftovers have been any use.

Usual leftover stuff from Axl's Vaults. A pair of nothing songs, but there's a hook or two that would have probably worked in the 90s with a bit of grit.

I think Chinese contains some of their best material. Madagascar, Sorry, Better, There was a Time are all right up there. But I'd agree - these have all been shit. There was a track doing the rounds from Chinese called Silkworms - it sounded great but it's never surfaced.

Naively hoping they're just releasing the leftovers for now and maybe something better is to come but realistically can't see it.

Both fairly nothing songs in all honesty apart from the solo section in Nothin. Everything they've released post reunion is bog standard rock stuff. I'd like to hear them tackle some more grandiose stuff that was evident on Chinese Democracy.

That minute of the solo for Nothin' is the very slight glimmer of old but apart from that - meandering shite at best. Would be outrageous if they combine all these woeful b/c-sides and released it claiming that it's an actual proper album. They don't seem interested in quality control whatsoever - just something to let people know they are still touring for those big bucks.

I reckon a good shout for them would be to go through all their own solo output since the 90s, pick the best 12 songs, rework with Axl and release. Better than this scutter.

Chinese Democracy had slight hints of brilliance - as we all know would have been given a bit more cred if Axl released it as a solo album. Really highlights that Appetite was right place right time.

Their solo output is awful. Axl is the genius, but it only really works with the classic lineup. I've a fair amount of the solo records at home. Everything from Duff's Believe in Me to Gilby Clarke's Pawnshop guitars and everything in between and it all amounts to bar rock. The closest they got to creating something worthwhile was Velvet Revolver and even at that those albums are full of fluff.

They aren't exactly the most active band and do come across as lazy. My uneducated guess would be they haven't written any music since Slash rejoined and are probably just releasing this stuff to keep people interested / put off doing a new album for as long as possible while still being able to tour as much as possible because isn't touring were the money is made these days.

If they were just lazy it might be ok. They come across as having lost the ability to tell what is good and what is truly shite, often known as 'Tallicitis, and release things which really should be buried at sea, at night and in lead-lined barrels.

There should be people in their organisation who say "Lads, hang on now" but I assume they were all fired long, long ago and, as long as the seemingly eternal goodwill generated by Appetite never runs out, the tickets will continue to sell, the money will keep coming in and everybody shuts their mouth and cashes the cheque.
