Axl has become what he slagged Iron Maiden for

I've actually never seen Gn'R before, one of the few bands I've always missed. They're playing Edmonton next year with tix $250 and I truly can't decide whether it's worth it. Has anyone seen the more recent shows? Worth splashing out for? Their appearance at that Black Sabbath farewell was very patchy...

I did see Velvet Revolver when they were first out at The Point in about 2005ish, plus Slash at many festival appearances. VR were actually really good.

I've seen them a fair few times. Axls voice has deteriorated but the band are tight and they'll play for over 2.5hrs. To be fair to them I'd say they were all shoved on with little or no soundcheck at the sabbath thing

If in doubt, look up Axl singing November Rain at Lisa Marie Presley's funeral and decide if that + autotune is worth 250 quid to you. You only live once, after all.

That version of November Rain is indeed atrocious, and the Sabbath cover at that gig was poor. However, I've seen another live version of it and it was excellent.

Also I've seen them a couple of times in the last few years and they have been very good apart from the pointless covers that they throw in.

QuoteI reckon a good shout for them would be to go through all their own solo output since the 90s, pick the best 12 songs, rework with Axl and release. Better than this scutter.

Their solo output is awful. Axl is the genius, but it only really works with the classic lineup. I've a fair amount of the solo records at home. Everything from Duff's Believe in Me to Gilby Clarke's Pawnshop guitars and everything in between and it all amounts to bar rock. The closest they got to creating something worthwhile was Velvet Revolver and even at that those albums are full of fluff.

I think slash's snakepit first album is class and has some of his best lead playing, but would agree otherwise

You should change the band name to Strangers With Guns N' Roses to give yourselves an auld algorithm boost for Christmas.

Stranglers With Guns N Roses. Really maximise the potential.

Alan Niven was on Mick Walls podcast for a couple of digs at Axl this week.
