Quote from: Mithrandir on July 23, 2025, 07:29:39 AMHave a couple of lads I know saying we shouldn't be posting anything about Ozzy because there's children dying in Gaza 🤦🙄

It's the same people that think resharing Instagram posts is activism.

 this kind of fake moralising some people come out with to try to look on point ethically makes me puke.

Off with their heads. I can picture all the Palestinians on their knees,  hands clasped, tears of gratitude running down their woe-begone cheeks. THANK YOU,  THANK YOU!!!

Watched my own father deteriorate with Parkinson's so have been quite reflective this morning.  It is a fucking cruel disease.  Will stick on some early Sabbath and Blizzard of Oz this morning.

Quote from: Paul keohane on July 23, 2025, 08:20:34 AMha the lad at work said his real memory of the gig was it was so packed that he couldn't put his arms down by his side!

Coming out into the cold January night air afterwards, it looked like people were on fire, the amount of steam coming off everyone, fucking soaked in sweat

QuoteRTE news just did a segment on him. Of course the fucking bat head had to be mentioned. I did spit my tea out when the reporter mentioned Sabbath guitarist Tony Immi....

Whenever I see RTE doing something on metal I picture Aonghus McaNally doing the air guitar at the start of The Lyrics Board

I'd have 0 faith in any mainstream Irish outlet when it comes to metal and not being cringe.

Saw an review in the Irish Times for that latest Ghost album, and there was a reference to Iron Maiden mascot: "Ed the Skeleton".

Yeesh.

Ah it's a shame even though it felt like it's been coming for a few years, glad I got to see that Dublin Sabbath gig in 2017.

Know the Sabbath stuff like the back of my hand so reckon it's time to finally delve into his post-Randy solo stuff.

I wouldn't worry too much about what the media are saying, to a lot of people unfortunately he's just the reality show guy who bit the head off a bat, wait a week or two and there'll be hit pieces.

Sad news. I remember a friend of my Da's giving me a copy of Bark at the Moon when I was maybe 11 or 12. Up until then it was 80's rock that caught my ear. Everything changed when I heard the title track.
I was listening to Master of Reality this morning, probably my favourite Sabbath album. It's hard to over state the importance of songs like Children of the Grave and Sweet Leaf on heavy metal as a whole. Solitude is one of the most haunting songs I've ever heard.
RIP OZZY

I've only ever given his solo material a go as far as No More Tears, anything worthwhile after that?

Ozzmosis is patchy but decent. After that, walk away.

Ta! Yeah my brother-in-law was a big Ozzy fan (and my intro to metal) and sure enough had all his albums up until Ozzmosis.

They started using the producer to write the songs after that, then getting whatever backing band he had at the time in to come in record those songs and the albums are generally shite as a result.

First Black Sabbath album cover is still one of the best ever. Iconic, so spooky and so black metal. RIP

I'm not a big fan of the debut or Paranoid, but Master of Reality is flawless.

I had Sabbath Bloody Sabbath on earlier. A very underrated album. Listening to Ozzy's vocals on 'Spiral Architect' sent a chill down the spine.

Patient number 9 album was surprisingly good. Last ever rock star. Sad times.
