Went back and listened to Roots for the first time in probably 20 years. Title track still has the nostalgia factor to keep it enjoyable, the instrumental songs are decent, otherwise it's all fairly shite

Was it Third World Chaos? That vhs was knocking around my gaff for years.

Under A Pale Grey Sky was the roots era live album that I think was only on CD

Last time I listened to it I was fairly scalded as well. A few good ideas here and there but yeah the tunes just aren't very good even taking the production out of it.

I think it was called Chaos DVD when released on DVD and was Under Seige or something when it was released in the early 90's on video.

Under a pale grey sky is the last show the real Sepultura played together.

I never thought Roots was all that bad honestly except for the title track. I haven't listened to it in years and would not be bothered buying a physical copy after selling the CD years ago but I saw Soulfly with Igor on drums playing it in full twice on 2 different tours in 2017 / 2018 and those shows were great.

Ugh.

Was that Max's attempt at taking off Jon Davis' scatting? It's bad anyway

Beneath The Remains is the business.

And that Under Siege Barcelona gig from 91 is one of the best live recordings ever IMO. Up there with Metallica Seattle 89, Maiden at the Rainbow, Candlemass at Fryshuset etc.

The couple of faster, punkier things on Roots are OK. The rest can fuck right off.

Alex Pereira the current UFC Light Heavyweight champ and probably the biggest MMA star since McGregor uses Itsári from Roots as his entrance music.

Totally. I kept borrowing my mates VHS copy of it in school. And it gets put on the "I've drank a hayp of cans at home" YouTube playlist (along with Nailbomb & TON at Dynamo) nowadays 😂

Hands down Sepultura live in Barcelona is the best live cd DVD vhs bluray ever and they're not even my favourite band but when I was a young fella I aspired to as much as turn up to a gig like that some day
