It's a massive pain in the wallet but I'm really not precious about gear these days.

I also picked up a pair of the Sennheiser E906's as they were half off. Only learned about it with a day or 2 left in Nov so had to pull the trigger.  Looks like they've been have a "Mic of the Month" at 99 euro every month for the last good while. It's currently an E602 if anyones in the market for a kick drum mic.

Won't get mine till January though as the mic was outta stock by the time I learned of the sale.

I knew you'd turn up in the gear thread eventually

Id say i nearly missed the cutoff too and it went from saying 2-5 days backorder to 7-8 weeks so I emailed them and they said it was fine that they had enough set aside. Might be worth emailing the customer care crowd just to chance your arm.

We must have ordered them the same day! In between seeing them and ordering them the wait time changed but I pulled the trigger anyways. I see they've shipped my parcel last week so maybe I'll get the mics soon afterall!

I bought a Les Paul Custom Axcess on adverts.ie about a month ago. Brilliant guitar!!!
I had it tuned to Eb flat but my SG is in Eb flat too, so I decided to get it properly set up in Bb.
I haven't had a six string tuned that low before, looking forward to trying it out when it's done.

What gauges of strings do people use for their lower tunings and how is your string tension?
Could you care less about proper setups or do you just lash a set of strings on and hope for the best?

A couple of beauts on reverb at the moment!!!

For lower tunings you'll be wanting heavier strings. I'd usually use 13-59 if I'm in B. You might also want to look at getting baritone strings if you're wanting even heavier gauge.

Your guitar might need a bit of tweaking if you're doing such a drastic change in tuning. You might be able to get away with only adjusting the bridge to help with intonation issues.

Yeah, I left it into the guitar workshop to be set up last week. The intonation will be way off and the nut will need a bit of work to accommodate the heavier gauge. I gave him a set of 13 - 56 ernie balls, so I'm hoping the 56 will be enough.

56 would be on the lighter side of things but it should still work

My Gibson LP Standard was in B for a couple of years, with 12-60 gauge. Had no need for a set up. The tension was not really high, but I liked it this way.  The sound was different than my usual sound with EMG(off course), but I loved it.

Seen a few Pod x3 live pedals on adverts. Any cop? Use it more for multi f/x rather than gain tone.
Have an ancient Digitech multi f/x somewhere in the house. Take it the tones have improved since??

Those things are great for time based and modulation effects but always more hassle than they're worth for distortion.

Found my old guitar in my garage a few days ago. I modified it back when I was 15 and played acoustic black metal. I don't like nylon strings, so I took the 6 heaviest strings from my 7 string electric and put them on it. The body is now warped because it couldn't handle the tension. I've named it "The Grimcoustic", due to its ability to be both grim and acoustic simultaneously.

Spray painted the whole thing with B&Q brand outdoor BBQ paint. Protects from rust and withstands heat up to 600 degrees!

Stunningly beautiful inverted cross, lovingly hand carved into the 12 fret. Just like Tommy Iommi!

Took the bridge out for some of that sweet ibanez-style low action

Finished off with another inverted cross painted subtly onto the back

As you can imagine, it plays like a beaut!
