Anyone else remember this cunt?

AMEN were a VICIOUS (imo) PUNK band from the Americas led by the one known as Casey Chaos, that were pretty big and peaked around 1999-2001;..but haven't been heard from now since like 2005!

They had 4 albums-

SLAVE (1995-Independent Debut)
Pretty decent Demo songs. Not sure if he played everything himself; but I think so. It's just fucking raw;truly pissed off;pure PUNK! But Heavy, groovy and catchy too.

AMEN (1999-Roadrunner [Major Debut.])
A step up in many ways, bringing a new band, stronger songwriting, a heavier sound with downtuned metal guitar tones, presented with a powerful but violent production, provided by Ross Robinson, him just after huge success with KoRn, limpbizkit, Sepultura,Soulfly;etc previous to this, worked on this AMEN one directly after he done Slipknot's debut which was released the same year.

We Have Come For Your Parents (2000-Roadrunner)
This is my favorite of the band and a record I still go back to regularly enough; it's just so fucking pissed off and angry in every direction. It's heavier still than the previous. a Ross Robinson job again. The lyrics are just fucking hateful, inciting rejection and rebellion. There was a vid for the song "The Price of Reality" which I thought was actually pretty fuckin cool; and it got a fair amount of rotation for a couple years on MTV2, Kerrang! etc. Class fuckin album, easily one of the best Punk records I've ever heard.

AMEN- The Price Of Reality on YouTube

Death Before Musick (2004-eatURmusic)
This last one is a bit shit really I will concede, less violent and more Pop Punk leading a bit. It got released on a sub-print label of yer man Daron Malakian; from the System of a Downs. It's not terrible by all means;but easily their weakest work. A shit last album to go out on really; considering the strength of the previous 2; as well as a fair few lethal B-sides they had released throughout the 4 releases which were all deadly and would make up a much better album than this one.

SCUM- Gospels For The Sick (2005-DogJob)
Before going ghost, the following year Chaos did an album with Samoth and Faust from EMPEROR; being SCUM, a Punk Black Metal project that is actually the fuckin business in fairness! The opening track "Protest Life" has some savage evil thrash riffery going on and sick lyrics, just fucking Hate everything, Fuck it all and just get fucking annihilated is pretty much the vibe, which I can't for the life of me fault him for really. The album has a couple of nifty guest spots from Nocturno Culto and Mortiis on it too!

But yeah, Fuckall music since then and nowt really at all other than a couple of 1-off live shows here and there, with Dave Lombardo on drums. But I kinda miss the hell out them. I thought they were the best and most promising PUNK band of that period by a long shot. Chaos was always in the likes of Kerrang!;Metal Hammer; Terrorizer at the time getting v good album reviews and being hailed for AMEN having an intense, energetic, angry, maybe even dangerous and violence inciting live show; easily rivalling the chaos of the early Dillinger Escape shows around the same time, so like he certainly had a strong buzz goin for his band it seemed like.

So yeah I dunno what happened with the guy/the band..I have bothered to Google him a couple times over the years, but news is scarce and vague, other than sad promises now and then of new music coming soon (going on now 20 years!) and him just hangin round Ross Robinson's, or Al Jourgensen's gaffs and appearing to be having troubles with drug addiction, along with drug-related criminal prosecutions.

Then there was finally this which I was vaguely excited for; a few years back a couple pictures surfaced of Chaos in Robinson's studio with Gary Holt and Dave Lombardo! A new band and album was teased....but of course; nowt ever came to be with this either!

Yes dude!
I love amen casey chaos fuckin rules man
Whatever happened to him
I see you mentions the skinny guitarist from system of down. They were fuckin cool band too.
Where are they?!!!
I thought I saw they did a song for Ukraine war recently (I could be wrong on that too) would be cool if they did tho

I was put off by them as a young lad dude to their edgy imagery, so I never checked them out.

Just fired Price of Reality up on yon Spotify and fuck yeah, I remember hearing this tune a fair whack back then

I don't fuckin know man, That's pretty much the question I'm asking here like. ;D

System are still going strong playing live shows often. Somehow they get insane top billings on festivals above Legends, despite not recording any new music since 2005, other than yes, 2 recent songs they did for awareness, but it was actually in aid of the blight in their home country Armenia, and not for the Ukraine.

AMEN certainly had an edgy image, but I think the fucking music and intent behind it has merit and integrity honestly. I stand by the AMEN 99' and We Have Come 00' albums as 2 solid and trve punk metal albums since I bought them over 20 years ago, I still enjoy them a lot, but I don't imagine they will ever come back, nor do I ever hear anyone mention them anymore is all? Shame? I Guess. does it matter? No.

I was bought the second Roadrunner album for christmas when it came out, I have great memories of trudging through snow on my way to my ex's flat while listening to it on a discman. Couldn't pretend to remember the music, more the fact that I enjoyed it at the time but haven't listened to it since. Bought the s/t album after that but thought it was shite. His voice is crap and he was a complete gobshite with a gobshite haircut, all of which fucked me off.

I bought the Scum album, played it once and promptly forgot about it.

I liked Amen and We've come for your parents. Caught them live on that tour too, they were really energetic to the point they sacrificed playing in favour of it. It was sloppy as fuck but an amazing performance to be fair to them.

Heard a smidge of Death Before music and can't say it did much for me, think I'd moved on and so had the rest of the world by the sounds of it. Very much a band of that snippet of time and I can't say I've given them much thought until now. Might dig out those albums again.

Never paid any attention to them back when they were active.
But Dealz had the two Roadrunner albums for €1.50 for ages. I remember picking one or both of them up a few years ago, mostly out of pure curiosity.
Still haven't actually listened to them. 🤣
Must dig 'em out and finally give 'em a go, I suppose.

I bought the Scum album based on the line up. Terrible.
I had heard some of the Amen stuff. It seemed angry for the sake of it. I remember they were magazine darlings back then.
I think he works in the Centra on The Grand Parade now.

Yep, angsty teenage-directed nu metal/punk. He always seemed like a muppet to me. I would have been 17 by the time they were being hyped so I'd begun focusing on more underground things by then.

Quite liked We have come for your Parents at the time but in retrospect, the most charitable thing I could say about them is that they weren't quite as bad as the other stuff doing the rounds at the time. Kind of like McLove, it came at a time when that kind of music had become less interesting and I had started to look to more underground music. Punk-lite and about as edgy as a slow fart in a bath. The drummer used to be in Ugly Kid Joe, then left Amen to join Godsmack. Nuff said.

Oi! Leave UKJ out of it!!

I was never into Amen but I remember that Scum album being ok. Haven't heard it in years though.

Casey Chaos was like Marilyn Manson without the tunes. They had a few tracks that I considered decent when I was younger but I haven't thought about them in years, and I don't feel compelled to revisit.

I own a copy of their 2nd album. I didn't listen to it more than 5 times after I bought it, I reckon. The only track that I recognise is "Coma America".

Recall them being being lauded by Kerrang and the likes at the time. Casey Chaos was described as the successor to Jello Biafra - this was the reason I bought the album, I believe. Nothing could have been further from the truth.

Never bothered with them again after that though I do own a copy of their "Death Before Musik" record which I got for free somewhere, if memory serves.

This. About as punk as Skid Row, I don't care what influences he was prone to namedropping.
