Jaysus I dunno it's an awful choice I'd nearly give it the draw! Both ridiculously good albums

I'd somehow give it to Songs. Everybody Wants To Rule The World is clearly one of the best songs ever, but it's not my favourite on the album (hello The Working Hour), whereas Enjoy The Silence is also one of the best songs ever, but also the best song on the album.

Yes, that's nonsense criteria, but here we are! Also feels like asking "shall I take the Porsche or Ferrari out this weekend?" :abbath:

I'd probably go Songs as well. Think I like Mother's Talk the best just for its pure proggy pop goodness, but there's no denying Rule is the best song on there, and all of them are great. It's also got just enough of that 80s cheesy goodness that I love.

It's true though that there's barely anything separating the two albums. The air is rare where they both are!

Going to listen to them both now. I still won't be able to decide though!

Plot twist - it's actually Black Celebration  :abbath:

Ah jaysus lad!!! What a fucking album as well

Not actually too familiar with that one so I'll check it out.

I was reading a thread a few days ago that was debating the best album out of Closer/Remain in Light/Disintegration/The Queen is Dead as well. Holy crap that was a tough choice too!

It's between Closer and Disintegration anyway, now that is a tough one. Neither one's particularly cheerful but The Eternal would have you running into the sea in despair. I couldn't pick one there.

Funny for me it'd be the other two it would be the toughest choice between. Again though, all are ridiculously good. I'd probably have the Cure album in 4th there. Might be controversial on this forum!

Apparently The Overload on Remain in Light was Talking Heads trying to sound like Joy Division having never heard them, but having read a description of their music in a magazine. Supposedly they were disappointed after they heard the real thing!

I've never heard Remain In Light, so I can't comment on that. I'm not pushed about Talking Heads TBH, bar the odd song. The Smiths are unlistenable because Morrissey.

The other two are 5/5 classics and I've been trying to rank them all evening. Can't do it, two perfect albums.

Anyway, I'm off to listen to The Overload.

Edit: It seems I have heard Remain In Light, I recognised the cover art. Mustn't have made much of an impression. The Overload is great though.

Violator is the best of the lot of these anyway.  Black Celebration also lethal to be fair.

I like Tears for Fears but haven't had an actual album on since my teens, only a best of.  Must go back to Songs today sure.

My only non-metal listening lately is the Final Fantasy VII soundtrack again, interspersed with a few tracks off the Evangelion OST.  They are both often in rotation but the good weather brings them right up the list.
