I think Morrissey being a bit of a cunt helped make some of their lyrics great.

Fucking great band though, hardly a duff track in their whole discography.

I only really got into them in my 30s too, having never really liked them before. I absolutely love them now though, prob a top 5 band for me. Marr and Rourke are just as good as match for each other as Marr and Morrissey were.

Think I prefer most of the Hatful versions to the studio versions. They really rock a lot harder than the impression they give. As as you said, it's much more clear on those live performances. The Louder Than Bombs comp is just as good.

Starting to go down that Boards of Canada rabbit hole now. I'd heard MHTRTC about a month ago and liked it a lot, though it wasn't blowing my mind. Inferno is blowing my mind though, and I've now listened to The Campfire Headphase and it's also blowing my mind. There's something almost life rearranging about them. Such a band.

MHTRTC was the involuntary soundtrack to come-downs for me in my 20s, but Geogaddi is the one that actually got me into them. Inferno is vying for the top spot now though.

This would be good to listen to next:

By sheer coincidence it actually was the next one I listened to last night. Followed by the Waco doc on Netflix of course. It was also amazing (BoC I mean).

I'm saving Geogaddi for when I start to tire if Inferno so I can keep that party going.

Inferno is going to be in a lot of people's top 3 this year. It really is absolutely brilliant.

Very decent alright. I'm annoyed at myself for not listening to these sooner, a mate was praising them to me more than 30 years ago but I assumed they were crusty Levellers types and never bothered. I was quite wrong.

NP: Rush: A Farewell To Kings, Hemispheres

Got round to ordering Inferno, found a deluxe version left in a Polish store so threw Rosalia's Lux album on top to make the most of the shipping.
